I’m so excited that you’re here, and I can’t wait to share my journey with you. My name is Peyton, and I’m currently a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, pursuing a degree in Journalism with a focus on broadcast news journalism. Though I’m still early in my college career, having spent just over a year here, I’ve already learned so much about the world of journalism.
I have recently become a producer and director for a one of our news programs here on campus with UWW-TV, as well as being talent on a different news broadcast. I’m eager to dive even deeper into this exciting field. I have two undergraduate research programs coming up this summer including a two week long storm chasing documentary I’m creating. I’m also traveling to DC to do research on how news rooms in DC use AI in the everchanging world of journalism.
A little bit about me: In addition to my academic pursuits, I’m also a passionate swimmer. I proudly compete on the swim team here at Whitewater, and being a college athlete is something I take very seriously. Balancing academics and athletics is challenging at times, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. The discipline, dedication, and time management skills I’ve gained as an athlete have translated into my studies, helping me stay focused on my goals both in the pool and in the classroom.
My love for journalism started at a young age, and it’s grown stronger with every passing day. The idea of telling stories that inform, inspire, and sometimes even challenge others is something that truly excites me. Whether it’s through writing, broadcasting, or creating engaging content, my ultimate dream is to become a news reporter—someone who can help people stay informed and connected to the world around them.
I’m so thrilled to embark on this journey, not just as a student, but as someone who is committed to learning, growing, and making a difference in the world of journalism. I hope this blog will be a space where I can share my experiences, insights, and passions with you. Stay tuned for more posts, and thank you for joining me on this adventure!
Let’s make this journey together!
