The Packers came into this game with a 6-1 record and were looking to make it 7-1 against a Chiefs team that is having a good year but was without MVP starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The Packers got off to a quick start and scored on their opening drive on a touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers to running back Aaron Jones to make the score 7-0 Green Bay. The Chiefs had a field goal opportunity with 4 minutes left in the 1st quarter and they missed from 50 yards giving the Packers the ball back with less than four minutes remaining in the quarter. The Packers then quickly drove down the field and scored on one yard touchdown run by Packers running back Jamaal Williams making the score 14-0 with the Packers on top and off to a fast start. The Chiefs took over the ball at the start of the second quarter and had a long drive down the field and scored on a 29-yard touchdown strike from back-up quarterback Matt Moore to tight end Travis Kelce to make the score 14-7 Green Bay. The Packers failed to score on the following drive, giving the Chiefs the chance to tie the game up getting close to half time. The chiefs took advantage of their opportunity and scored on a thirty yard touchdown run by wide receiver Mecole Hardman tying the game up at 14 a piece and giving the Packers the ball with short time left in the first half. The Packers ended up giving the ball back to the Chiefs with 3 minutes left in the first half and giving them a chance to lead the game at halftime after starting the game off with 14-0 lead. The Chiefs took advantage and kicked a field goal making the score 17-14 Chiefs heading into halftime.
The Chiefs started the second half with the ball but quickly gave it up to the Packers and the Packers capitalized on a 35-yard field goal from their kicker Mason Crosby. Making the score 17-17. The Packers took over possession late in the 3rd quarter and ended up scoring on a miraculous throw from Aaron Rodgers to Jamaal Williams in the back corner of the end zone, making the score 24-17 Packers. The Chiefs tied the game up at 24 on the following drive putting some major pressure on Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to perform and give his team the lead back with 8 minutes remaining. The Packers answered quickly with a 67-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Jones making the score 31-24 which is the score I predicted for this game in my previous blog.(I’m very proud of myself for this one :)) This ended up being the final score of the game and the Packers improved their record to 7-1 on the year with a commanding lead in the NFC North. The Packers next game will be against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday in Los Angeles at 3:25 central against a struggling Chargers team looking to improve to 8-1. See you this weekend for my preview of the game!
