{"id":94,"date":"2019-10-18T00:00:36","date_gmt":"2019-10-18T06:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/nonprofit\/?p=94"},"modified":"2019-10-18T14:38:55","modified_gmt":"2019-10-18T20:38:55","slug":"matthews-presents-at-association-of-arts-administration-educators","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/nonprofit\/2019\/10\/18\/matthews-presents-at-association-of-arts-administration-educators\/","title":{"rendered":"Matthews Presents at Association of Arts Administration Educators"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This summer, lecturer Megan Matthews was part of a panel presentation at the Association of Arts Administration Educators on the topic of how universities launch new programs.\u00a0 The panel, \u201c\u2026By Any Other Name\u2026\u201d, was created in response to recent research about how programs choose their names, what kind of political and administrative realities affect creation of new programs, and how several programs have navigated through the process of starting up.\u00a0 In choosing names, programs tend to use terms that<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Describe the program<\/li><li>Distinguish the program from\ncompetitors<\/li><li>Avoid crossing institutional\nboundaries.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>But questions remain \u2013 especially\nabout whether and how a name might impact curriculum and outcomes.&nbsp; For instance, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Does an <em>entrepreneurship<\/em> program aim to produce a different kind of graduate\nthan a <em>management<\/em> program?
