U.S. Midwest SWIP is<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>especially interested in enriching discussions about contemporary social and political issues, and we welcome work that explicitly interrogates how such issues intersect with race, gender, ability, and class.<\/p>\n<p>Potential themes include:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<ul>\n<li>&#8211; \u00a0Mass Incarceration, Cradle-to-prison Pipeline, and Carceral Feminisms<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; \u00a0Police and State Violence against People of Color and Trans* People<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; \u00a0Coloniality and Decolonial Methodologies<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; \u00a0Queer\/Crip Theory and Disability Studies<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; \u00a0Insurrectional Political Action and Uprisings<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; \u00a0Reproductive Justice<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; \u00a0Climate Change, the Anthropocene, and Muzzling\/Silencing of Climate Research<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; \u00a0Indigeneity and Indigenous Rights<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; \u00a0Immigration, Assimilation, and Statelessness<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; \u00a0Austerity Measures and Neoliberalism<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; \u00a0Food Justice and Food Politics<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; \u00a0Social Epistemology, esp. investigations into and critical readings of epistemology ofignorance and epistemology of resistance literature<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; \u00a0The nature and consequences of thinking of identity in a pluralist and\/or multiplicitous way<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>The program committee gives preference to women and members of other marginalized groups who are working on feminist projects that engage multiple axes of oppression. We also welcome the work of scholars at any stage in their careers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>Submission Guidelines:<br \/>\nWe invite panel\/workshop proposals and individual paper submissions. The College and Chestertown are surrounded by farm land and the county borders the Chesapeake Bay. Though situated in a rural county, Washington College is only 90 minutes from Baltimore and Philadelphia.<\/p>\n<p>Travel and Lodging:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>&#8211; Quality Suites (160 Scheeler Rd., Chestertown, MD 21620, Phone: (410) 810-0555) has a block of rooms for &#8220;SWIP at Washington College.&#8221; The nightly rate is 95.99 + tax. Options are rooms with one king bed or rooms with two queen beds. Also, Sunday afternoon we have organized a shuttle from the College to<br \/>\nBWI. Estimated shuttle departure from BWI will be 6pm, Friday Oct 9th. Estimated arrival at BWI will be 2pm Sunday Oct 11th.
