Whether it is the old fashioned ways through the newspaper, radio, or TV. Or the new modern ways like on social media and other devices. There are many types of news that I consume as well on these platforms.

The main national/international news I’m mainly interested in is the United States’s foreign updates. Whether this is tensions with another country, meeting with other countries, or helping other countries, it is interesting to see what the United States are up to in their foreign affairs. For state news I am mainly interested in major state news regarding fatalities, new state laws passing, and big events. On the local level, I mainly am interested in community news, statistics, and the weather events that happen in my area. The stories I’m mainly monitoring are mainly foreign affairs and the updates that are going on in my area. I follow news in my hometown via my local radio station. Not only do I get my local news from the station via radio, but they also post news on their FaceBook page that I follow. My radio station also has a website that I visit often. For my state news on the web, I got to Madison Channel 3’s website as well. Channel 3 is my favorite site to visit because their menus are polished, easy to navigate, and have everything I need in my news. Sometimes I go on other news sites via Google when I try to fact check a story I see on social media. I only use AI for fact checking as well. Twitter has an AI called Grok that does very decent at fact checking false information.

I usually consume my news by reading texts and watching videos. I would read textual news when a notification pops up on my phone, and I find that notification interesting so I read the article. I would usually watch videos when scrolling through my social media, I see an interesting news video to find out more information. I sometimes look at photo slideshows or audio reports, but that’s only when they show up on my social media feed which rarely happens. I have never seen graphics that would let me pick and choose the information. I would be curious to see what that looks like.

My main source of news is X (formally known as Twitter). I follow insiders or those reporters that always break the breaking news. They do post links that I do visit once in a while. But also a danger on X is the parody accounts. Those accounts purposely post fake news for clout and attention. I can find out what’s real and fake through Grok. Grok will point out if it’s real or fake and give a good explanation as well. Community notes are used by other readers when they point out information is fake.

Overall, there are a lot of ways that I get my news. Whether those are social media, websites, or videos. Social media nowadays is the main source of news since mainly the majority of the media is on social media.

There are many ways to consume news media.
