A brand that comes to mind then talking about mobile marketing would be Macy’s. They have done a great job of keeping current and up to date with the upwards trend of mobile marketing. I shop at Macy’s for quality clothing, but sometimes the price makes me hesitate. Often I will shop for tops at Macy’s and add them to my shopping bag and see what coupons I can apply. But what is interesting is that once I leave their site, they follow me with their marketing strategies. When I use a cooking blog or my exercise app, Macy’s ads pop up. And they aren’t just generic ads, they are ads for the specific item I was looking at and things that are very similar to that style. Over the top of the photo of the item, they will put the original price, and they slash it with the new discounted price. This has often made me go back to their website because I know realize the the items that I wanted are cheaper than they were before. I will also ad that they want people to use their mobile app when shopping with them. They offer a 20% off coupon when you get the app, create an account and make your first purchase through the app.

In the 4 Reasons to Focus on Mobile Marketing Video one of the facts stated was that videos were on the rise and that in 2019 this was more relevant with the rise of Facebook, Instagram and Instagram stores and that the younger generation is watching less tv. The video also stated that it is predicted that mobile ads will soon surpass traditional tv ads. I find this to be very relatable as I recently experienced both the social media advertisement and the opportunity based on location elements that were mentioned.
When I was looking on Instagram one day looking though the Insta Stories, there were several sponsored ads that show up. One of the sponsored IG stories that popped up was for a company called Mega Babe Beauty, it was a video of a women using a product called “Happy Pits” which I found to be very interesting, so I used the “swipe up option” which took me to the Mega Babe Beauty website. Once I was on the website the “Happy Pits” product was displayed, and I could quickly ad to my shopping cart.
Before I checked out, I also tried to google the brand to see if the product was cheaper someone else, since this was my first time trying it. I did a good search and the product was show with the location icon that it was available nearby, so I clicked on that. I found that it was available at Ulta Beauty Store and there was a $5 off coupon available to use with my purchase.
Well, a few days went by and I had not yet purchased the product, until I was again on social media, but this time I was on Facebook and there was a Mega Babe ad that popped up on my news feed.
We had covered the opportunity based on location as well as some of the social media marketing, but never really thought much about it, or the coincidence of the products near me were the ones showing up on my phone.

A brand that focuses a lot of their marketing efforts to mobile marketing is Fanjoy, which is a clothing brand that provides merchandise for social media influencers. The social media influencers that Fanjoy endorses usually has a core audience that comes from their YouTube pages. This is important because, just like the video said, TV is dying and video accounts for more than half of media content. More people are flocking to YouTube than ever before and the people that Fanjoy endorses are mostly from YouTube. These social media influencers whole job depends on marketing themselves through the use of digital marketing on all platforms and they provide additional marketing to Fanjoy through their social media accounts and videos. Fanjoy barely has to do any mobile marketing themselves due to the partnerships they form with these social media influencers that constantly provide exposure to Fanjoy through the use of their videos. Fanjoys partnerships with influencers are mutually benefical because with more video marketing, the influencers sell more merchandise (which markets their own personal brand) and Fanjoy get more exposure to their brand and they get a huge percentage of sales.

A brand that focuses on their digital marketing is Amazon. Amazon is one of the biggest online shopping companies. Amazon is a website in which you can purchase everything from shampoo to tools to clothes. One thing I think Amazon has that really helps those shopping is their ability to find related products and have them pop up when you search for something. This is a form of pop up advertising that helps digital shoppers out tremendously. Along with that, Amazon also has reviews of products which allows customers to shop based off recommendations. Personally, this helps me a lot, especially with clothing sizes because sometimes I prefer to go to the actual store to try on to make sure they fit. Sometimes in these reviews, people put videos of them using the product which helps to know what to expect. Along with that, sometimes there are videos of how to put stuff together if you are ordering furniture. Because I shop with Amazon a lot, often, when I am on Facebook, advertisements are popping up trying to entice me to shop more. I think this is smart of Amazon because they know who their shoppers are and how to get them to buy more. Most people are on their social media a lot, so if Amazon keeps putting up advertisements, this will keep helping their profit. Amazon also has fast one-day shipping with Prime. Along with that, they are adding coupons to many of their products now as well. You can click the box to apply the percentage off at the end. Personally, I like this because you can see the price before and after the coupon. I love to save money any way possible.

A brand that comes to mind after watching the Mobile Marketing video is Marriott. In the Mobile Marketing video, it mentioned that mobile ads will surpass the usual ads we see on TV. I can see this happening already. Every time I am scrolling through Facebook I see at least one, if not more, ads for the Marriott Hotel. I notice it more often after I have booked directly with them or if I am in the area. So when the video also mentioned social media advertisement and location could play a role in increasing sales, I completely agree! In one article I read, it mentioned Marriot’s mobile marketing strategy rung up 1.7 billion dollars annually. How convenient to be on social media. You see the ad as you are scrolling through, then click on it, and book. It is convenient and easy to use their app as well. I can see how mobile marketing can create a lot of revenue, especially when many of us have it right at our fingertips with the use of our phone.

One of my favorite brands, and one I think is personally really successful at marketing overall, is Starbucks. They are extremely effective in their mobile marketing. They are really good at communicating their marketing across all mediums but have been especially successful in mobile and digital marketing. Starbucks ads can be found on almost all social media platforms. Starbucks has social media accounts for the company, like Twitter. The biggest mobile marketing win Starbucks has is their mobile app. The app gives out special offers, like birthday gifts or discounts, and Starbucks integrated their loyalty program right onto their app so everything is in one convenient spot. The app has push notifications, which will pop up on the users home screen with deals and such, and it uses GPS technology to determine where someone is. They’ve recently added in the mobile order option, so you can order your drink from your phone and have it ready to pick up by the time you get to your Starbucks. Like I said, I’m always impressed by Starbucks marketing, and I think they’ve really done a good job utilizing mobile marketing.

I don’t think that there is one specific brand that you can say that focuses on mobile marketing anymore, because majority of them already do. They said promotional letters in the mail, emails, or now if you even look them up online or talk about them they are most likely to pop up on your feed. For example, this weekend Bath and Body Works is having a huge sale on candles this weekend and I have ads all over my socials about it and I have so many emails trying to pull me in to go into their stores, and its working. They put so many out that you just get more and more excited for it because you know you can’t get the candles like that at such a low price. They were not always so much in the media but each year they have more and more sales to promote themselves more and integrate themselves into social media, and I think it is working pretty well.

I wouldn’t say this is one of my favorite brands but I feel that it is appropriate for this discussion. The brand is called “Thursday Boots”. I was first introduced to this brand while scrolling through my Instagram feed. The company’s advertisement was displayed as if it was a normal picture but included an extension at the bottom of the picture. At the time, this was one of the first times I had seen an Instagram advertisement in this format, and I knew that this was the best way for Instagram to advertise products. As the video mentioned, these advertisement extensions make it easy for the consumer to go straight from the advertisement to the website. When scrolling through something like Instagram, one doesn’t go on it to be bombarded with ads and have to spend time looking for that product online. It is much simpler to incorporate an extension within the advertisement to ensure it is simple and instant for the customer, which in turn will result in more sales and views for the company’s products.

One of my favorite brands and one that does a great job with mobile marketing would be Bath and Body Works. Bath and Body Works recently had a one-day sale on their hand soaps. Rather than it being $6.50 per bottle of soap, it was $2.50 a bottle. That is less than half price! I wouldn’t have even known about this sale if it weren’t for Bath and Body Works mobile marketing. I saw ads on both Facebook and Snapchat, and because of those ads, I went online and not only bought some hand soap for myself, but I also bought some for my sister, and I bought a couple candles for myself, and a couple of candles for my boyfriend. If it weren’t for the advertisements on Facebook and Snapchat, I wouldn’t have bought all that stuff. Thanks to Bath and Body Works mobile advertising, I got some quality soap cheap, and they got additional sales because I bought candles as well.

One of my favorite brands that focuses on mobile marketing is one of my favorite online clothing stores, Fashion Nova. Considering that they are an e-commerce brand, they brand themselves through social media influencers and though SMS/Email. I think for a brand that only operates online, should invest heavily in mobile marketing. With consumers being more attached to social media, I think it is clever to utilize influencers because they will provide constant exposure for this brand. I can tell you first hand that almost every large influencer promotes Fashion Nova, so you will always see it on your timeline. Instagram and Twitter also allows brands to attach direct links to their posts, so that the consumer can go directly to the piece of clothing that was pictured in that specific post.

After watching this video, a brand that comes to mind regarding mobile marketing is Starbucks. They communicate well through their social media accounts and app. This is the only way I found out when they are having BOGO deals as well as when new drinks come out. Mobile marketing is so important since people are constantly on their mobile devices and social media. Another feature Starbucks has on their app is mobile ordering. It is very convenient to be able to order your drink from the app, pay for it, and be able to pick it up typically in around 10 minutes. I used mobile pick up in the summer before work when Starbucks was very busy. Without mobile ordering, people would see the line at Starbucks and turn around most of this time so I think this was a smart thing for them to develop.

One of my favorite brands for workout clothing is Alphalete. They have affordable but also top notch quality clothing; which is important to me since I am a bodybuilder and spend a lot of time in the gym. The only reason I found this company is through social media marketing. I have never heard of them in person and their only location and gym is in Arizona. I found them through the use of Instagram and their sponsored athletes. I think that having sponsored athletes is HUGE in this business. Having a well known athlete that wears and represents their company and shows off their products is huge. Especially for clothing because most consumers want to be able to try on or see the clothing in use before purchasing it. By having their athletes wear and spread the clothing they have grown tremendously but their ads and convenience of getting to their website increases their sales and popularity. Their sponsored athletes tag all content possible to lead potential customers to their website. I think companies like that are much more successful than Dick’s sporting goods since they seem to do a better job at attracting customers.

Even though I am not a coffee drinker, when watching this video, Starbucks is the brand that comes to mind. My girlfriend drinks starbucks quite often and at first, I was not sure why she would spend so much money on a cup of coffee. She then had to explain in great detail all of the benefits that she gets from their app and loyalty program. She even talked about how she can order right from her phone and pay for it and then send that order to a nearby starbucks for pick up. I thought this was an extremely impressive marketing strategy. I still do not drink coffee, but see why so many people get used to getting starbucks because of how easy it is to use their phone and mobile device to order and keep track of built up loyalty points. Additionally, the store locator device on the app can help bring in clients if they just want to go their and get more than just coffee.

There are a lot of popular brands and retailers out there but in this post, I want to recognize businesses owned and operated by individuals and how mobile marketing has brought them success. One of my favorite Hmong artists is Yasmi. She is a Hmong women actress, singer, model and entrepreneur. Yasmi is a role model and idol for thousands of young Hmong women and men, and she has utilized mobile marketing to reach fans and customers domestically and internationally. She is actively on Facebook, Instagram and Youtube and has thousands of followers. Fans shares her posts and videos on social media, and it has made her one of the most successful Hmong women artists today. Not only does she travel to promote her music, movies and products in person; she uses mobile marketing to reach more people. She has a online shopping website too, where her brand products can be purchased. She is a perfect example of how mobile marketing is helping everyone succeed; not just big retailers or brands.

When I think of mobile marketing, I tend to think of Amazon. However, for this blog, I want to use my favorite clothing store, Torrid. I am a huge nerd and whenever I am on Facebook and looking at videos, whether it be something Harry Potter related, or Doctor Who related, or even Disney, I almost always get an advertisement for Torrid. They have a great selection of clothing specifically for the nerdy. It is called Her Universe. I describe Torrid as Hot Topic for plus sizes. However, they have great professional clothing as well. Anytime I am within about 10 miles of a Torrid, their app will send me any sales that are going on or remind me of something on my wish list. They also have a rewards program and Torrid Cash which is similar to Kohl’s cash but is loaded onto your account instead of having to keep it in hand.

With over 40% of user internet time spent on mobile devices, it seems only logical to partake in mobile marketing. Even the video says “it means ignoring the rise of mobile is not an option.” One of my favorite activewear brands, Lululemon, puts up new content at least every two days. They advertise new products, talk about incredibly active people, and talk about different ways to get active. Their Facebook page alone has over two million likes. That means that every video they put up, every picture they post, every product they advertise has the potential to be seen at least two million times. And I would guess that most of those views would come from a mobile device. They make a lot of their marketing visually and audibly appealing making users want to interact with their content for longer. Every post also has a link, taking users and viewers back to Lululemon’s page to encourage exposure and probably sales.

Mobile marketing is a key component of a company’s marketing strategy and it is rapidly growing. Like the video said, 40% of internet use occurs on mobile devices and it is poised to overtake tv in the near future. Personally, I do most of my shopping from my phone and I always price check large purchases with Amazon or nearby retailers which means if I can’t look at your website from my phone you never gave yourself a chance to get my business. The first company who comes to mind that has a good mobile presence is McDonalds. I try to avoid fast food unless I’m in a rush but recently I downloaded their app to get a free sandwich and now that I get regular notifications about deals my McDonalds consumption is definitely up. Ultimately, with the emergence of 5g and constantly improving mobile devices, people are going to be using desktops and tv’s less and mobile marketing is going to be more important than ever.

Mobile marketing is very powerful in today’s world. The fact that apps can track your location and send adds when you are near their business is unique and a very effective tool for sales. They mention that video accounts for more than half of total media consumption. Since people are watching less and less TV it has turned advertising through the mobile device a must for companies. HBO is a great example of a product that has used mobile marketing to its advantage. A few years ago, they introduced a sort of creepy marketing campaign to promote a television series named ‘True Blood’. When moviegoers searched for films on the Flixster or variety applications, bloody fingerprints popped up on the screen wherever they touched. Soon after, a pop-up was displayed that enabled you to watch a trailer for the series. This advertisement increased viewership by 38%. It amazes me that something so simple can increase viewership by that much. This is definitely an example other companies can learn and take notes from.

With mobile technology being so popular today, Mobile Marketing is important. One of my favorite brands is Maurices, their target audience is living in todays digital world. Maurices has adds on Facebook all the time, which consist of advertising and Maurices fan club. On my Facebook page they have employees from the nearest Maurices advertise their favorite outfit, it’s a fun way to see what employees like. When an add pops up on my Facebook stream I can click the add and it goes directly to the item that is advertised, this is a quick way to find exactly what I’m looking for. Their Facebook page is doing so well, they decided to present a mobile app called Maurices style club. This app is a text messaging app that involves exclusive promotions, styling tips and announces in store promotions. You receive a 20% off coupon as an incentive to sign up for their style club.

When watching this video, I thought of Instagram as being one of my favorite brands. The main reasons that I thought of this brand when watching this video is because of their use of video advertisements and advertisements with extensions. This media platform not only allows users to post videos, product/service promoting or otherwise, but also use these videos for sponsored posts. Daily, if not multiple times a day, I will see a video advertisement or a sponsored post for a product or service. When I first started seeing these videos, I thought that they were coming from a page that I follow. Almost every time I scroll past these videos, I find it catching my attention more than the still pictures. Instagram also uses advertisements with extensions. As a consumer, I find these “learn more” banners on the pictures or videos helpful. With these extensions, I don’t have to close out of where I was scrolling to go find the company’s website or think to myself “I’ll look it up later”. I imagine there will be an increasing number of companies using these kinds of advertisements in the future.

While watching this video, the first company I thought of that practices effective mobile marketing was Amazon. Amazon remembers your previous searches and purchases and shows you recommended products based on that. They have customer reviews easily accessible, and allow users to compare products very easily. They also provide different shipping methods from 2 day delivery to in store pick up to let the customer choose which they prefer. They also have an app that is very user friendly. It has a very nice lay out, and is super simple. Generally, Amazon’s prices are cheaper than alternatives. But because of how simple it is for me to just open my app an order a product I’m looking for, I am more likely to purchase from Amazon than a competing company that may be a little cheaper. Another thing I have noticed with Amazon is that when I search for a product, ads for similar products pop up on my Instagram and Facebook as I am scrolling through my feed. I have certainly made some impulse purchases because of these ads in the past; so what they are doing is working.

One brand, or store, that I love is Urban Outfitters. Being a more expensive store, they tend not to have a lot of sales going on. However, when you sign up for their daily alerts and reminders, they send you text messages including the link and the sale that is going on. Not that I want to be spending more money, but it makes me click on it because they carry a lot of brands that I love and I almost always end up buying SOMETHING even if I wasn’t necessarily looking to or wanting to. They utilize the fact that people are almost always on their phone or at least will check when they receive a message and use that to their advantage when promoting sales or deals that they have going on. If they wouldn’t send me these updates, I probably wouldn’t buy from them as much as I have in the past few months.

One of my favorite brands that has grown with mobile marketing would be Starbucks. I go to Starbucks just about every day or every other day, especially since there is one right across where I work. The one that stuck out most to me and Starbucks would be the location factor of mobile marketing. My Starbucks app can tell me where the nearest Starbucks is and how many are around me, and I can even order my Starbucks on the app and have it ready to be picked up when I get there. I think it is crazy how mobile marketing has grown, especially throughout the past few years. I get advertisements on my Facebook or social media when I have been to or near a Starbucks recently or if I am close to a Starbucks, I get their advertisements on my social media! I think this strategy is a great way for businesses to advertise especially because everyone is always on their phone in today’s society, and I think it will be more on the rise in the future.

Some of my favorite companies that utilize mobile marketing are definitely food companies. Depending on my current location on my phone, I often am being exposed to advertisements from different food companies such as Buffalo Wild Wings, Pizza Hut, Starbucks, etc. These companies do a great job of reaching people with advertisements online. I constantly see these food companies on my social media pages through ads, or even on my internet pages when I am looking at other things. I constantly am being updated on food specials and deals whenever I am around some of these places. It definitely makes you want to go and grab some food/drinks whenever you’re near these places. These advertisements are very well placed and are definitely effective.

What stood out to me about this video was the prominence of video ads in mobile marketing. Today’s younger generations love to consume videos. For me, I subscribe to many different channels on YouTube, most of which promote products through their video content. Mobile marketing is a different vehicle for video ads. Consider Instagram and facebook, where video ads automatically play, capturing your attention as you scroll through your feed. I recently discovered that one of my favorite clothing brands, Everlane, is using video content to aid in their online sales process. Online shopping can be tricky because photos often don’t do clothing items justice. Everlane is now including video previews of their clothing. When visiting their website and viewing individual clothing items, the consumer can see both photos of the item and a video of the model wearing it. They even include different sized models for some items so the consumer can really see how an item might fit.

One of my favorite brands that has a huge impact on customer with mobile marketing is Starbucks. I love coffee like many Americans living in the United States and Starbucks is making easier. Starbucks has an app that is very helpful to order coffee. When using the mobile app, customers can earn rewards, order drinks or food, store a credit card to pay for drinks, look for stores near you, give a Starbucks gift card to someone. There are so many features that Starbucks offers to their customers through their mobile app. Additionally, Starbucks can be found easily whenever someone is searching for coffee. For example, whenever I do a search on Google, Starbucks appear as one of the listed coffee shops near by even though it is not near to my location. Overall, I think Starbucks may be one of the few coffee shops that has a mobile app. This is a great economic boost for the company because many people do not have enough time waiting in line for a coffee, so instead they order online through their phone and pick it up. I think paying online and picking it up later, it is one of my favorite feature Starbucks provides. Below is a video I found on how to use the mobile app for Starbucks:

After watching this video, the first company that I had thought of was Amazon. Amazon is well known for customers using their mobile devices. Not only does Amazon have their own APP that can be dowloaded to devices, almost all of their advertising is digital on mobile devices. Amazon has several ads on social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram. I personally have experienced Amazon ads popping up on my Facebook news feed. One way that social media and Facebook work together and something that I have personally experienced is that after I had been searching for a product on Amazon, then when I go onto Facebook the same product shows up on my Facebook feed. I have also found that if I end up purchasing a product then they advertise similar products or products that would “go nicely with” the product I had just bought. I think that Amazon is most successful on mobile devices because of the convenience. For customer who are Prime members all they have to do is pick there payment method and that is all. Amazon is based off of the App and simplicity and is a great example of mobile marketing because the one way they get their products and name out their is by marketing online because they are an online store!

I think most interestingly to me, with regards to mobile marketing, is the brand “Shonen Jump””s approach to the increasing relevance of the mobile platform. Typically, Shonen Jump is a licensing company for Japanese comics. Over in Japan, new chapters of these comics are available every week. However, for a long time, due to licensing, and translation, these chapters wouldn’t see the light of day in America for months, sometimes years. Hungry fans turned to “Scanlation”, which is the act of illegally scanning chapters, and then using image editing software to manually change text bubbles to be english. With the advent of mobile, Shonen jump has been using the platform to provide this weekly chapters within days, sometimes even hours of the official release. With this in mind, and with decades of scanlation being the norm, Shonen Jump has pushed extra hard to make users aware of their mobile app, going as far as to buy out ads on illegal scanlation sites, to point users towards their legal alternatives. I’ve included a link below to their app. I’d like to call attention to their claim of being a “trusted source”, because for the longest time, seedy, sketchy third parties were your only sources, trustworthy or not.

After watching the video, the very first brand that came to mind is Casey’s General Store. When they first released and advertised for mobile marketing, it was very flawed. At the time, I worked landscaping and I often ate lunch at Casey’s and stopped for snacks due to their vast offerings, clean bathrooms, and spacious parking lot to pull my dump truck and trailer into without hassle. The regular attendants were pushing for me to use their app and mobile site to get large discounts and coupons, but it was more hassle than it was worth. It was difficult to navigate, didn’t work well, and mostly left me frustrated and paying full price rather than fight with their mobile site. They later revamped and relaunched their mobile site and app. Now it works wonderfully. I see and hear many people using it. It is now more convenient to place a pizza order through their mobile site than to just call. They have really stepped up their mobile marketing efforts and it really shows.

As an athlete one of my favorites brands has to be Nike. Nike does a great job at staying relevant and having new products all the time. Especially today when everything changes so quickly, you have to be ahead of the game. Nike not only is ahead of the game, Nike is usually in the lead. Other companies have to figure out how to catch up to Nike. Nike has some of the best advertisements if I say. They use real athletes and show consumers how their product can help them. Nike is all over the place, from facebook, twitter, instagram and youtube. Nike currently has 8 million followers on twitter and is very active on there. Nike also promotes everything that they can. It helps that they have such a wide range of products and products for just about every sport you can think of. The link I found is of Nike’s twitter account.

After watching the video the brand that popped into my head was kwik trip. I say this gas company because the biggest digital marketing that I see is within the app Waze, which is a GPS app that allows their users to let others know what is on the roads such as hazards, police or traffic. The digital marketing on this app uses location to see where you are at, if you are close to a company that has digital marketing through the app. The company I see on their very often is Kwik Trip because they are one of the top gas stations in the Wisconsin area. I think this is a great move by Kwik Trip because if someone is using a GPS app they are driving and using gas, so if they can get their name out there to get gas or stop at their place it will be more attractive.

One of my favorite brands/stores is Target. They have really developed their mobile marketing over the last decade. I found two articles one from 2009 and one from earlier this year and it was really neat to see how their mobile strategy has developed and led Target to where they are today. In reading the article from 2009, Target was primarily focused on developing and encouraging users to engage with them via text messages and their newly released mobile version of their website. The text messages allowed you to be alerted when the new weekly ad was posted and get daily deals sent to you. As of recent, Target was using text messaging for you to receive a coupon code for a gift card if you spent a certain $ amount in a particular department. Between 2009 and today Target had developed several different apps that served different customers. There was the main Target app (view add, store info, etc.), Cartwheel (discounts), Healthful (pharmacy), Registery (baby & wedding registries). Healthful was discontinued while the other three have recently been combined all into the Target app. This has streamlined the ease of use for the consumer and allowed many customers to benefit from all the apps with additional benefits. You can now get your Cartwheel discounts and pay all by scanning the Wallet barcode within the Target app. Can’t find where an item is within Target? You can search on the mobile for the item and it will tell you which aisle the item is located in and provide a store map.

Mobile marketing has become more and more prevalent in recent years and is only going to increase in the future. One company right away that comes to mind is Amazon. I can’t even count the number of items that I have purchased through the mobile app. It does many things that get me to the point of purchasing different products. One of those things is that it recommends items based on my previous purchases. This adds a personalization factor to the app and your private profile so that you are only advertised things that you are interested in. This keeps the app organized and less cluttered making shopping much easier. It even saves previous purchases so that you can quickly and easily repurchase items without having to do a search. Another factor that makes their mobile app extremely successful is the way that it links your account across all platforms whether you are on your phone, tablet, computer, etc. I believe that the consistency of how smooth the app works throughout all devices plays a massive role in their success.

Mobile Marketing is a strategy that nearly every company and brand is using today. Gen Z and Millennials are a huge target audience for mobile marketing. After watching this video the first thing that came to my mind was Amazon. Amazon is one of the world’s leading online markets when it comes to selling. One reason that Amazon continues to thrive, is because they are constantly adapting to the technology around them. One amazing thing that I love about this company, is that they now offer a “video search” option on snapchat. You can press and hold the screen on certain products, and you receive a link to that product or a similar one on Amazon. Another great option that I love is the “recommended for you” based off of your recent searches and even the “often bought together” option when looking at a new product. Amazon also includes social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to advertise their products and communicate with customers! Overall, I love Amazon and when I’m looking to purchase something, I always check to see if Amazon has it available.

Mobile marketing is extremely important for businesses today. More people are using their mobile devices today than ever before. I believe that if companies do not do mobile marketing, they have a lesser chance of succeeding. I think all 4 points made in the video are great and every company should use them to their advantage. More people are watching videos on their phones, mobile marketing is a great way to have location based advertising, ads are able to have extensions, and they are able to have voice-activated search. One brand that I think has done a great job with mobile marketing is Samsung. When Samsung began promoting their Galaxy S6 phone, they began to use interactive ads on mobile devices. It’s main objective was to get loyal customers to upgrade their phone, and get users of other phone brands to buy their phone. They used mobile marketing to show off their battery and charging system. Their ads were interactive and showed how long it would take to charge their phone. According to their results, 1.6% of users clicked to see more, and 1.1% of users clicked on the experience portion. They interacted with the ad for 20 seconds on average.

Since I live in La-La Land I couldn’t end the semester without taking about Hollywood. Television is having a slow, Chinese water torture, type of death. Streaming is here to stay. It boggles my mind how companies like Netflix and Hulu have us trained to sit for six, eight, twelve hours to devour the newest shows. Advertisers must find a way to break through. TV use to be the go-to medium for advertising and to a point as we have learned it still is a great way to reach mass audiences. Here’s the thing though if you want to reach mass, mass people. Have a commercial before the Netflix logo pops up, you will reach millions daily. Now it’s not going to accessible to every company, that thirty second spot is going to be tens of millions or even hundreds of millions depending on how long it last. In short marketers need to break into the streaming landscape its their only hope. I’m an avid YouTube user, the number of commercials have at a minimum double if not tripled this year. Some commercials lasting 30 minutes. It will be interesting to see if streaming video finds away around it. It’s coming whether we as the consumer likes it or not. There is just way too much money at stake.

One of my favorite brands would be Starbucks and their use of mobile marketing. Starbucks actually does a very good job of using and utilizing mobile marketing. For one, Starbucks now has a super cool app that you can preorder your drink and they will have it ready for you. This also is a great way to use online payment especially if you forgot money or your wallet (I know we all have had that happen to us once or twice before). That part is not fun especially when you already ordered and then you have to tell them you no longer want it. Another cool thing that Starbucks has also done is they have a Mobile Card payment system. This allows customers to load money onto a card and all they need to do is scan the barcode on your phone. I think that a lot of the time people feel safer if they don’t carry around money or their cards. Instead, phones are the larger goto, nowadays.

A brand that relates to this video that I use often is Uber Eats. I often travel for work and I used to search in google for what restaurants are by me. This approach would work but often times it was difficult because it directed to the websites of restaurants. Many times these websites were not reliable and often clunky. I started to use Uber Eats because it allowed restaurants to put information on the app’s platform which made it easy to read and appealing. There is great benefit knowing what you are ordering and where they can deliver it to by a set time. If I am working a really long day, it is nice to order food walk outside for five minutes and pick it up. Not all restaurants are available in this app but it is growing. It is worth mentioning that I still do enjoy walking around finding a unique restaurant and sitting down to eat. It is a benefit when I don’t have that time to spend walking around and I can dictate the delivery to work with my schedule. This type of business is changing the food industry to be more mobile. It is also a handy option when you have kids by yourself and making dinner is difficult. I’d recommend checking it out and seeing if there are any new restaurants near you. Platforms like Uber Eats brings more viewers and consumers to restaurants and they can get statistics from how many viewed their menu or how many people searched by keyname for their company.

This video was very interesting and is spot on. People carry phones everywhere all day, it is usually the first thing you look at in the morning and the last thing you look at, at night. One of my favorite brands is Nike and they recently did something crazy. They sold an item directly through Snapchat. https://www.mobilemarketer.com/news/marketer-of-the-year-nike/541566/
It only took 23 minutes for the shoe to sellout after release. My use mobile phones to sell products it brings you closer in contact with the consumers. Your advertisements can be easier to send to the masses when using mobile marketing. As the video said people watch less and less regular tv. While at my mom’s house growing up, I had no cable, we just used Netflix. People have no need for it since there are so many streaming services that have everything. This make it imperative to be bale to reach your customers at any given time.

After watching this video, the first thing that came to my mind was Amazon. Amazon does a fantastic job utilizing mobile marketing. They are able to use third parties to bring a mass amount of products together, making it easier for the consumer to purchase a product. Not only that, they allow you to purchase a product, and let’s say this product is dog food. You are able to use your mobile app to have the dog food delivered at the end of the month, rather than you having to go out to the store and purchase it. Reviews are becoming a huge factor whether to buy a product or not. Amazon has a mass amount of reviews on all products and label the best reviewed products as “amazons choice.” Amazon holds all your past orders in case you would like to repurchase again. The mobile app they developed makes it extremely easy for anyone to find a product. Amazon is great at creating pop up adds on other social media platforms or websites that entices you hop onto their website or mobile app and purchase a product based on the fantastic advertising they do.

I found this video to be particularly interesting and relevant to the advertising environment we find ourselves in today. The point made about the further encroachment of mobile sources in the advertising world is very impactful, due mostly to the handful of businesses who do not seem to embrace the change. Most people for one reason or another find themselves on social media during a relatively large part of their days, leading much of the meaningful advertising to target this medium. By the same token, more traditional forms of advertisement such as television and radio are becoming less and less effective at attracting a wide volume of customers, making unrelenting dependence on them inadequate business practice. Thirdly, the use of popular outlets such as Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat have all been increasingly effective at engaging potential customers and delivering a brand’s message, further projecting the direction of the future of advertsing

Not necessarily a favorite brand but a favorite online store for music related equipment. This particular online store is called “Musicians Friend,” where you can purchase all different types of equipment or instruments. Many items on the marketplace are very expensive so customers take their time deciding when to purchase. I find it that when I browse the website without making a purchase, I become a marketing target on other platforms like Instagram or Facebook. Since I have been studying marketing and advertising for some time, I am aware of these tactics. For consumers who are not familiar with the capabilities of marketing, I could see targeting being very effective. Perhaps targeting is a bit aggressive for some but it ultimately reminds the consumer to consider following through with making purchases. Also targeting helps convince consumers to keep making purchases with places such as Musicians Friend when shopping for any related goods.

I think that mobile marketing is very important in today’s society because so many people are on mobile devices. I have seen many mobile ads and I usually only trust the ads from established brands that I have heard of before. If I do see an ad for a new brand or product I do research on it before ordering anything from them. One of my favorite brands is Adidas and I think they do a great job at mobile marketing. I am a big fan of Adidas and I constantly see their ads when I am on Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. They also do a great job of email marketing because I constantly get updates on new product releases and updates on discounts for clothing and shoes. I think one of the main reasons they are good at mobile marketing is from all of the sponsorships and athletes they have promoting their items. When I see an advertisement of a popular athlete wearing or representing Adidas I usually engage more with the ad then if it was just a picture of a product.

One of my favorite brands is Best Buy. I have noticed that Best Buy does engage in a lot of solid mobile marketing. Every time I am on a website whether it is for school or I am just browsing the internet I see a Best Buy product that they are advertising. They do a great job with their online ads informing people of upcoming sales, bundles and new products in the store. Best Buy also does a fantastic job with their mobile app and user-friendly platform that they have set up. They will let you know local inventory, if you can pick up the product and at which store. Best Buy launched “On My Way” through the store’s mobile app. which tells when a customer is coming to get their order. If an item is out of stock in the store and needs to be ordered, letting you know when it would arrive as well as shipment preference to local store or your house can be accomplished through the store pick up link. When a customer enters a store, the Best Buy’s app goes into “store mode,” and tries to create an individualized experience for the customer, including lists of local inventories, product ratings or alerting to a store pickup. Best Buy saw through Google store visits data that local inventory ads drove over 1 million store visits for Christmas 2016.

A favorite company of mine that uses an excellent mobile marketing strategy is Ford. When Ford was releasing recent models of the Taurus and the Escape, they provided a text message FORD and encouraged customers to send the message to the five digit number given. From there, the customers were then contacted and were able to gain information on the vehicle model they wanted. These customers were also asked to provide them with their name and zip code. The reasoning for this was so the company could then send the information to local dealerships where the dealership would then get a hold of the customer. The campaign proved successful and had a significant conversion rate of 15.4%. Relating this concept to the video, many companies desire to know about consumers’ locational status for proper advertising concentration. In this case, Ford gave the customers an easy and convenient way to reach customers who were searching for a new vehicle. It also gave Ford an idea as to which markets or more specifically, which regions for Ford to advertise more heavily in. This is done so Ford can maximize their profits and understand which areas demand Ford vehicles more.

One of my favorite brands is Lands’ End and while they may not be the most active in Facebook of Instagram, they are heavily involved in the e-mail arena. I am a flannel nut and only buy my flannels from L.L. Bean or Lands’ End. Now, the reason why I bring up Lands’ End is because of the superb coupon deals that they offer via e-mail. I may be old school but saving 40% on high quality flannels is a pretty big deal; at least for me it is. I am constantly getting emails with coupons and promotions from Lands’ End and while I don’t buy from them on a consistent basin, I feel that their persistence with their e-mail marketing campaign has sold them a lot of flannels. Flannels are awesome and if you can get them at a discount, they are even more awesome!
