Documenting Macroevolution in the Origin of Whales<\/strong>&#8221; on <strong>Thurs., Feb. 9, at 6:30pm<\/strong> in Hyland Hall&#8217;s Timmerman Auditorium. This free public lecture is the featured event in UWW&#8217;s 2012 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/news\/archive\/2012-02-darwin\" title=\"UWW's Darwin Day 2012 web page\" target=\"_blank\">Darwin Day<\/a> celebration. Many organizations celebrate <a href=\"http:\/\/darwinday.org\/\" title=\"International Darwin Day Foundation web page\" target=\"_blank\">International Darwin Day<\/a>, the anniversary of Charles Darwin&#8217;s birthday on Feb. 12, 1809.<\/p>\n<p>Thewissen&#8217;s research is identifying fossils that establish whales&#8217; evolutionary transition from their four-legged, land-walking ancestors.
