Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence on Sept. 16th and 18th, respectively. What started as a week-long observation in 1968 was expanded to 31 days in 1988 by Public Law 100-402. The UWW campus is celebrating with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/marketingandmedia\/news_releases\/2008_09_latino_heritage_month.html\">lecture series<\/a> and an art and cultural exchange with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uabjo.mx\/\">Universidad Aut\u00f3noma &#8220;Benito Ju\u00e1rez&#8221; de Oaxaca<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Library of Congress, in collaboration with many other federal agencies, has a special <a href=\"http:\/\/www.loc.gov\/topics\/hispanicheritage\/\">National Hispanic Heritage Month<\/a> web site. The U.S. Dept. of State&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.america.gov\/\">America.gov<\/a> web site, which provides information about American life, culture, and foreign policy, has a photo gallery of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.america.gov\/multimedia\/photogallery.html#\/30145\/hispanic_arts\/\">Prominent Hispanic Americans in the Arts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/images\/library\/blog\/oel.jpg\" alt=\"cover of encyclopedia\" align=\"left\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Your University Library has a lot of relevant material<\/strong>, including reference works, books, and articles.
