Award-winning journalist Trudy Lieberman<\/strong><\/a> will talk about “Health Reform—Reality or Myth<\/strong>” on Wed., Mar. 31st, @7pm in Timmerman Auditorium<\/strong> (Hyland Hall). This presentation, sponsored by the UW-Whitewater Pre-Health Associates of Today club with help from the College of Letters and Sciences<\/a> and the Biological Sciences Dept.<\/a>, is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

\"coverMs. Lieberman contributes to magazines like The Nation<\/em> and Columbia Journalism Review<\/em>. You can use Library article databases<\/a> to find some of her articles, e.g., search the Academic Search Complete database for JN “Nation” and au lieberman trudy<\/a> to find “Can Obama reform healthcare?<\/a>” (Oct. 27, 2008, pp. 20-21) and other Nation<\/em> articles. Search the Communication & Mass Media Complete database to find articles such as “An Rx for reporting<\/a>” (Columbia Journalism Review<\/em>, Mar\/Apr 2010, pp. 15-16), which discusses “press coverage of the health care reform debate in the United States.”<\/p>\n

Ms. Lieberman also has written books such as Slanting the story: The forces that shape the news<\/em><\/a>, and she contributed “Trustworthy information: The role of the media” to the 2007 book The trust crisis in healthcare: Causes, consequences, and cures<\/em><\/a>. UWW students and staff may request these titles from other UW libraries by using the free Universal Borrowing<\/a> service. Requested titles arrive in 2-4 weekdays.<\/p>\n
