Medicine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sla.org\/\">Special Libraries Association<\/a>&#8216;s BioMedical &amp; Life Sciences Division conducted a poll to identify the <a href=\"http:\/\/units.sla.org\/division\/dbio\/publications\/resources\/dbio100.html\"><strong>100 most influential journals of biology &amp; medicine over the last 100 years<\/strong><\/a>.&#8221; The poll was conducted by selection panels for three areas: clinical medicine &amp; allied health sciences, molecular and cellular biology (including journals of biotechnology), and natural history.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/units.sla.org\/division\/dbio\/publications\/resources\/topten.html\">top ten<\/a> are listed here.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/images\/library\/blog\/jamacover.jpg\" alt=\"JAMA issue cover\" class=\"alignright\" \/><\/p>\n<ul><span style=\"color: #003300\"><strong>Clinical medicine &amp; allied health sciences:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<li>The New England Journal of Medicine<\/li>\n<li>JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association<\/li>\n<li>BMJ: The British Medical Journal (which beat out The Lancet by two votes)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/images\/library\/blog\/naturecover.jpg\" alt=\"Nature issue cover\" class=\"alignright\" \/><\/p>\n<ul><span style=\"color: #003300\"><strong>Molecular, cellular, and general science:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<li>Science<\/li>\n<li>Nature<\/li>\n<li>Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/images\/library\/blog\/botanycover.jpg\" alt=\"Botany issue cover\" class=\"alignright\" \/><\/p>\n<ul><span style=\"color: #003300\"><strong>Natural history (Botany, Zoology, Anthropology and Paleontology):<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<li>The American Journal of Botany<\/li>\n<li>The Journal of Zoology<\/li>\n<li>The American Journal of Physical Anthropology (which finished in a three-way tie with the Journal of Human Evolution, and the American Journal of Human Biology, but then won according to tie-breaking rules on grounds of longevity)<\/li>\n<li>The Journal of Paleontology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All of the top ten titles except for <em>The American Journal of Physical Anthropology<\/em> and the current year&#8217;s content of <em>The Journal of Zoology<\/em> are available to UWW students and staff, either through online databases or in Andersen Library&#8217;s first-floor periodicals collection.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Special Libraries Association&#8216;s BioMedical &amp;
