Kennedy Serve America Act (Public Law 111-13)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I remember the morning of Sept. 11, 2001 very well. I was working at the Reference Desk when my colleague arrived and asked if I knew planes had hit the World Trade Center towers. I had no idea what she was talking about until I checked a news website. I could hardly believe what I was seeing. Today I looked again at 9\/11 images preserved in the October and November 2001 issues of <a href=\"http:\/\/digitaljournalist.org\/archives\/2001.htm\"><em>The Digital Journalist<\/em><\/a>, and I can still hardly believe it.<\/p>\n<p>The Library of Congress has an extensive <a href=\"http:\/\/lcweb2.loc.gov\/diglib\/lcwa\/html\/sept11\/sept11-overview.html\">September 11, 2001, Web Archive<\/a> preserving images and statements of individuals, groups, the press and institutions in the aftermath of the 9\/11 attacks.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/images\/library\/blog\/towerstor.jpg\" alt=\"Tower Stories cover\" class=\"alignleft\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/images\/library\/blog\/911report.jpg\" alt=\"9\/11 Report cover\" class=\"alignright\" \/>Andersen Library also has material on 9\/11, including titles that you can find by searching <a href=\"http:\/\/wtwlib.wisconsin.edu\/vwebv\/searchBasic\">HALCat<\/a> (Harold Andersen Library&#8217;s Catalog), such as <a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=XgoVAQAAIAAJ&amp;source=gbs_ViewAPI\"><em>Tower stories: An oral history of 9\/11<\/em><\/a> (3rd-floor Main Collection HV6432.7 .T69 2007) and <a href=\"http:\/\/purl.access.gpo.gov\/GPO\/LPS51934\"><em>The 9\/11 Commission report: Final report of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States <\/em><\/a> (online or 2nd-floor U.S. Documents Y 3.2:T 27\/2\/FINAL).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/images\/library\/blog\/nyt9_12_01.jpg\" alt=\"New York Times front page excerpt Sept 12 2001\" class=\"alignright\" \/>Of course there also are many articles in newspapers, magazines, and journals that can be found by searching the Library&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/library.uww.edu\/indexes\/index.html\">article databases<\/a>.
