{"id":25500,"date":"2023-03-27T07:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-03-27T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/library\/?p=25500"},"modified":"2023-01-25T15:17:53","modified_gmt":"2023-01-25T21:17:53","slug":"warhawk-almanac-five-time-national-champions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/library\/archives\/25500","title":{"rendered":"Warhawk Almanac: Five Time National Champions!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p id=\"one-four\">The Lady Warhawk Gymnastics team has had its fair share of National Titles throughout their time, beginning with their first win March 24, 2012. <a href=\"#footnotes\">[1]<\/a> After placing third in 2009 and 10, and second in 2011 the team was finally able to achieve their goal. <a href=\"#footntoes\">[2]<\/a> By 2014, the team earned two more National Championships completing a three-year winning streak. Along with their third-straight National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) National Championship, the Warhawks set a \u201cDivision-III record-high 193.025 total score on March 21 in Ithaca, N.Y. \u201d. <a href=\"#footnotes\">[3]<\/a> Not only did they set a Division record but \u201cthe \u2018Hawks set five program records in total\u2026and qualified 14 gymnasts to compete in the individual championships.\u201d <a href=\"#footnotes\">[4]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/images\/library\/blog\/2014GymnasticsTeam.JPG\" alt=\"2014 Gymnastics Team\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">2014 Gymnastics Team<br>UW-Whitewater Gymnastics Team, 2014 Championship, ca. 2014, Facebook, Whitewater, WI, https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=10152438357055926&amp;set=a.10152438356935926<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p id=\"five-six\">While the team continued to have strong showings, they did not win another national title until they \u201ctraveled to UW-Stout the weekend of Friday, March 31<strong> <\/strong>and came back soaring high as 2017 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association National Champions.\u201d<a href=\"#footnotes\">[5]<\/a> This time the team had a total score of 191.000, bringing the team to four National Championships while second-place finisher UW-La Crosse totaled 188.300.<a href=\"#footnotes\">[6]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/images\/library\/blog\/2017GymnasticsFiretruck.JPG\" alt=\"2017 Gymnastics Team on Firetruck \"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">2017 Gymnastics Team celebrating in style<br>UW-Whitewater Gymnastics, 2017 Gymnastics Team, Facebook, Whitewater, WI, https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=10155058991525926&amp;set=a.552025523383957<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p id=\"seven-eight\">The team won their fifth NCGA National Championship and second straight title March 23, 2018, in Springfield, Massachusetts. <a href=\"#footnotes\">[7]<\/a> Head coach Jennifer Regan was quoted in the Royal Purple, saying \u201cI couldn\u2019t be prouder\u2026As a coach you can\u2019t ask for a better performance over the last two days. The kids left everything out on the floor last night, that\u2019s for sure.\u201d <a href=\"#footnotes\">[8]<\/a> And indeed, they did. The team came home with a total score of 193.700 (La Crosse finished second with 192.55), their best event being floor with a score of 48.750.
