S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit), to replace retiring Justice David Souter.<\/p>\n<p>Curious about how this process works? After all, Supreme Court justices are appointed for life, not just for a President&#8217;s term. Here are places for more info:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Search<a href=\"https:\/\/libproxy.uww.edu:9443\/login?url=http:\/\/library.cqpress.com\/index.php\"> CQ Electronic Library<\/a> for <strong>&#8220;supreme court&#8221; and nomination<\/strong>, and the results list will show items such as <a href=\"https:\/\/libproxy.uww.edu:9443\/login?url=http:\/\/library.cqpress.com\/congress\/g2c6e1-972-36438-1841413\">&#8220;History of appointments: The Senate&#8217;s role&#8221;<\/a> (from <em>Guide to Congress<\/em>, 6th ed.). This catalog search also finds government publications, such as Congressional confirmation hearings of previous nominees to the Court: <a href=\"http:\/\/purl.access.gpo.gov\/GPO\/LPS68348\"><em>Confirmation hearing on the nomination of Samuel A.
