To mix things up a bit, we tried out a new movement rhyme found by browsing finger play and action rhyme books in the Main Collection LB1177 section: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Hop. Hop. STOP.<br>Hop. Hop. STOP.<br>Run a little. Run a little.<br>Sit down. PLOP!   <a href=\"https:\/\/uwi-primoalma-prod.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com\/permalink\/f\/1q3c9ri\/UWI71279658410002121\">(<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">From<\/span> Fingerplays&nbsp;and rhymes : for always and sometimes<\/a>  by Terry Lynne Graham.)  <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stories:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>After plopping down on their beanbags, our Friends were ready for some February stories about things we love to do (<a href=\"https:\/\/uwi-primoalma-prod.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com\/primo-explore\/fulldisplay?docid=UWI71313899950002121&amp;context=L&amp;vid=WW&amp;lang=en_US&amp;search_scope=WW_VOY&amp;adaptor=Local%20Search%20Engine&amp;tab=default_tab&amp;query=any,contains,I%20love%20going%20through%20this%20book&amp;offset=0\">I Love Going Through This Book<\/a> by Robert Burleigh and illustrated by Dan Yaccarino) and how <em>no one<\/em> &#8211; or no pug &#8211; is unlovable (<a href=\"https:\/\/uwi-primoalma-prod.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com\/primo-explore\/fulldisplay?docid=UWI71314633240002121&amp;context=L&amp;vid=WW&amp;lang=en_US&amp;search_scope=WW_VOY&amp;adaptor=Local%20Search%20Engine&amp;tab=default_tab&amp;query=any,contains,unlovable%20yaccarino&amp;offset=0\">Unlovable by Dan&nbsp;Yaccarino<\/a>) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/images\/library\/blog\/ST-valentinestories.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p><!--StartFragment--><\/p>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rhyme time:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>While browsing the  Main Collection LB1177 section, I was reminded of another classic rhyme. I tweaked the words to update &#8211; ten cent store became the dollar store-, Squeak the Squirrel led the rhyme, and he gave a valentine to his animal buddies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Five Valentines <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>(Original: Insert children&#8217;s names. Our version: Insert animal names)<br>\nFive cheerful valentines from the dollar store- <br>Squeak sent one to _____________; now Squeak has four. <br>Four cheerful valentines, pretty ones to see- <br>Squeak gave one to ____________; now Squeak has three. <br>Three cheerful valentines with flowers pink and blue- <br>Squeak gave one to ____________; now Squeak has two. <br>Two cheerful valentines-my story\u2019s almost done. <br>Squeak gave one to ______________; now Squeak has one. <br>One cheerful valentine-one and only one- <br>Squeak gave it to _______________; now Squeak has none. <br><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/images\/library\/blog\/ST-valentineanimals.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Squeak the Squirrel handing out valentines to his animal friends. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Story &amp; Craft:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The Valentine rhyme with stuffed animals transitioned to  <a href=\"https:\/\/uwi-primoalma-prod.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com\/primo-explore\/fulldisplay?docid=UWI71329615250002121&amp;context=L&amp;vid=WW&amp;lang=en_US&amp;search_scope=default_scope&amp;adaptor=Local%20Search%20Engine&amp;tab=default_tab&amp;query=any,contains,my%20heart%20is%20like%20a%20zoo&amp;sortby=rank&amp;mode=Basic\">My Heart is Like a Zoo by Michael Hall<\/a>. The Friends recognized how a simple heart shapes become lions, herons, and other zoo animals.
