<\/p>\nFrom September 15 to October 15, the United States celebrates and honors National Hispanic Heritage Month. For an entire month institutions like the Library of Congress pay tribute to the generations of history, culture, and contributions Hispanic Americans have made to our nation. What used to be only a week-long celebration in 1968 under administration of President Lyndon Johnson evolved and expanded into a month long honoring of Hispanic heritage twenty years later under President Ronald Reagan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
So how is Andersen Library celebrating Hispanic Heritage\nMonth? Well, what better way is there to celebrate than with books? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
All month long, Andersen encourages you to check out our Spanish children’s book collection that has over 180 Spanish books \u2013 and that\u2019s just in the Curriculum Collections on the 2nd floor! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A large number of these books are used by students here at UW-W in the college of education and professional studies, more specifically for English as a Second Language (ESL) and Bilingual Education courses. Just because students use them for class doesn\u2019t mean you can\u2019t enjoy them too! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
By checking out Andersen\u2019s Spanish collection, not only are\nyou taking part in Hispanic Heritage Month but, like us, you recognize that Whitewater\nis a linguistically diverse community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
