His books include <em><a href=\"https:\/\/uwi-primoalma-prod.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com\/primo-explore\/fulldisplay?docid=UWI71352653000002121&#038;context=L&#038;vid=WW&#038;search_scope=WW_VOY&#038;isFrbr=true&#038;tab=default_tab&#038;lang=en_US\" target=\"blank\">How to Become a Straight-A Student<\/a><\/em>, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/uwi-primoalma-prod.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com\/primo-explore\/fulldisplay?docid=UWI71352656190002121&#038;context=L&#038;vid=WW&#038;search_scope=WW_VOY&#038;tab=default_tab&#038;lang=en_US\" target=\"_blank\">How to Win at College<\/a><\/em>, and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/uwi-primoalma-prod.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com\/primo-explore\/fulldisplay?docid=UWI71351087730002121&#038;context=L&#038;vid=WW&#038;search_scope=WW_VOY&#038;tab=default_tab&#038;lang=en_US\" target=\"_blank\">So Good They Can&#8217;t Ignore You<\/a><\/em>. His latest work is along the same lines. This time he writes about deep work, a term he coined to describe the ability to focus intently on work, free from distractions. If that sounds like the opposite of your reality, you will have a lot of company. The author cites a scary study about knowledge workers: 60% of their work time is spent in searching online and electronic communication (p. 6). There is very little &#8220;think&#8221; time.<\/p>\n<p>In the introduction, the author notes Nicholas Carr&#8217;s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/uwi-primoalma-prod.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com\/primo-explore\/fulldisplay?docid=UWI71329940790002121&#038;context=L&#038;vid=WW&#038;search_scope=WW_VOY&#038;isFrbr=true&#038;tab=default_tab&#038;lang=en_US\" target=\"_blank\">The Shallows: What the Internet is Doing to Our Brains<\/a><\/em>. And what <em>is<\/em> happening to our brains definitely interferes with deep work.
