Young Memorial Library<\/strong> (431 W Center St, Whitewater). <\/p>\n<p>Her 2013 journey, which began at the western end of the Ice Age Trail in <a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.wi.gov\/topic\/parks\/name\/interstate\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Interstate State Park<\/a>, St. Croix Falls, is recounted in her memoir, <em>Thousand-Miler: Adventures hiking the Ice Age Trail<\/em> (short <a href=\"http:\/\/content.wisconsinhistory.org\/cdm\/ref\/collection\/wmh\/id\/52537\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">excerpt available online<\/a> from the <em>Wisconsin Magazine of History<\/em>). But the book is about more than becoming a &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.iceagetrail.org\/list-thousand-milers\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Thousand-Miler<\/a>&#8221; (someone who hikes the entire 1,200 miles of the National Scenic Trail). It&#8217;s also about the places and people encountered along the way (some segments of the trail actually go along community streets, although most of it is off-road hiking terrain).<\/p>\n<p>Copies of her book will be available for purchase.
