It&#8217;s the last <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/diversity\/2015-2016-multicultural-heritage-lecture-series\/southeast-asian-heritage-lecture-series\" target=\"_blank\">Southeast Asian Heritage Lecture<\/a> for 2015-16!<\/p>\n<p>An interesting article about how U.S. laws regarding control and conservation of forest resources was affected by the railroads is available in the LexisNexis Academic database: &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/libproxy.uww.edu:9443\/login?url=http:\/\/www.lexisnexis.com\/lnacui2api\/api\/version1\/getDocCui?lni=5F91-X380-00CW-300G&#038;csi=138916&#038;hl=t&#038;hv=t&#038;hnsd=f&#038;hns=t&#038;hgn=t&#038;oc=00240&#038;perma=true\" target=\"_blank\">No trespassing: Railroad land grants, the right of exclusion, and the origins of federal forest conservation<\/a>&#8221; (<em>North Dakota Law Review<\/em>, 2014, vol.90, pp.87-427). You also can see an issue of <em>CQ Researcher<\/em> that talks about &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/libproxy.uww.edu:9443\/login?url=http:\/\/library.cqpress.com\/cqresearcher\/getpdf.php?id=cqresrre2011110400\" target=\"_blank\">Managing public lands<\/a>&#8221; (November 4, 2011, vol.21:no.39).<\/p>\n<p>Forest trespass (logging theft) has been in the news within the last few of years in Thailand, <em>e.g.<\/em>, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/libproxy.uww.edu:9443\/login?url=http:\/\/search.proquest.com\/docview\/1761749980\/fulltext\/7823CE9CA64248DBPQ\/1?accountid=14791\" target=\"_blank\">Thailand: Forest Department seizes trespassed forest lands in Kanchanaburi<\/a>&#8221; (<em>Asia News Monitor<\/em>, 2016: February 03), &#8220;Thailand: Illegal logging reported in Yala forest reserve&#8221; (<em>Asia News Monitor<\/em>, 2014: September 15), and also a temporary prohibition of entering the forests as haze prevention from burning activities was reported in &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/libproxy.uww.edu:9443\/login?url=http:\/\/search.proquest.com\/docview\/1664588177?accountid=14791\">Thailand: Chiang mai to strictly prohibit forest trespassing<\/a>&#8221; (<em>Asia News Monitor<\/em>, 2015: Mar 20).<\/p>\n<p>The book <a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=2lUFH0myqAgC&#038;dq=forest+trespass+asia&#038;source=gbs_navlinks_s\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Economics of the Tropical Timber Trade<\/em><\/a> talks about land use policy and discusses how such policy is complex, &#8220;designed to meet a mix of economic, political and social objectives&#8221; (p.64).
