Of course, you can also file online. And if your 2007 adjusted gross income is under $54,000, you can prepare and file your federal taxes online for free&#8211;aka Free File!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/images\/library\/blog\/freefilelogo.gif\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"Free File logo\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>To take advantage of Free File you must start at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.irs.gov\/efile\/article\/0,,id=118986,00.html\">IRS web site<\/a>.<\/strong> From there you can select one of the companies partnering with the IRS to provide this free filing service. Read each company&#8217;s criteria to be sure which companies you can use.<\/p>\n<p>Among the advantages of Free File:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a fast refund (within 10 days with direct deposit)<\/li>\n<li>24\/7 filing convenience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What if your adjusted gross income is too high to qualify for Free File?  You can still file online, but not for free.<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin also has a free-file option.
