Have an interest in something the State Legislature is doing?<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"outline of Wisconsin (map)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/images\/library\/blog\/wisoutline.jpg\" \/>The Wisconsin Library Association&#8217;s Government Information Round Table has posted a <a title=\"blog entry The 2015\/2017 Wisconsin Legislature\" href=\"http:\/\/wlagirt.wordpress.com\/2015\/01\/07\/the-20152017-wisconsin-legislature\/\" target=\"_blank\">blog entry<\/a> that provides basic information about the new biennial session of the Wisconsin Legislature, which kicked off on January 5th.<\/p>\n<p>The blog entry links to information about State officers and elected officials, the legislative process in Wisconsin, and the work of the state agencies that exist to support the work of the legislators. Especially interesting is the <a title=\"2015-16 Wisconsin Legislator Briefing Book\" href=\"http:\/\/docs.legis.wisconsin.gov\/misc\/lc\/briefing_book\" target=\"_blank\">2015-16 Wisconsin Legislator Briefing Book<\/a>, which provides background on policy areas and the budget process for State legislators.<\/p>\n<p>There also are web sites that help you keep tabs on what the Legislature is doing, <em>e.g.<\/em>, <a title=\"WisconsinEye home page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wiseye.org\/Home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">WisconsinEye<\/a> uses &#8220;robotic cameras in the Capitol [to] produce gavel-to-gavel, unedited coverage of state proceedings&#8221; and also covers &#8220;community affairs and public policy discussions across the state,&#8221; according to its web site. The <a title=\"Wisconsin State Legislature home page\" href=\"http:\/\/legis.wisconsin.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wisconsin Legislature<\/a>&#8216;s own web site provides a link to <a title=\"A citizen's guide to participation in the Wisconsin State Legislature\" href=\"http:\/\/lc.legis.wisconsin.gov\/publications\/citizensguide\" target=\"_blank\"><em>A citizen&#8217;s guide to participation in the Wisconsin State Legislature<\/em><\/a>, which talks about testifying at public hearings and finding legislative documents. You can create a free account to receive email notification when particular legislative activity (identified by bill numbers, keywords, committees, authors, or Administrative Code notices) occurs with the <a title=\"Wisconsin Legislative Notification Service\" href=\"https:\/\/notify.legis.wisconsin.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wisconsin Legislative Notification Service<\/a>.
