Young Auditorium<\/strong>. It\u2019s the first Spring 2014 <a title=\"Contemporary Issues Lecture Series\" href=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/cls\/about\/lectures\" target=\"_blank\">Contemporary Issues Lecture<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Philpott cofounded <a href=\"http:\/\/maverickfarms.com\/\" title=\"Maverick Farms web site\" target=\"_blank\">Maverick Farms<\/a>, an &#8220;educational non-profit dedicated to promoting family farming as a community resource and reconnecting local food networks in High Country of North Carolina.&#8221; He blogs at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.motherjones.com\/authors\/tom-philpott\" title=\"Philpott's posts at Mother Jones\" target=\"_blank\">Mother Jones<\/a>, and previously wrote for the online environmental site <a href=\"http:\/\/grist.org\/author\/tom-philpott\/\" title=\"Philpott's posts at Grist web site\" target=\"_blank\">Grist<\/a>. His writings on food politics also have appeared in <em>Newsweek<\/em>, <em>Gastronomica<\/em>, and <em>The Guardian<\/em>.
