Please try it out and send us <a href=\"mailto:elsenc@uww.edu?subject=Academic Video Online Premium\">your feedback<\/a> by February 28, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>We are considering whether this product can adequately replace our current <em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/libproxy.uww.edu:9443\/login?url=http:\/\/digital.films.com\/PortalPlayLists.aspx?aid=3069\">Films on Demand<\/a><\/em> subscription. The <em>Films on Demand<\/em> subscription will continue through <em>January 1, 2015<\/em>, regardless of the decision.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the reasons we are considering this switch:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Academic Video Online: Premium <\/em>offers 26,000 films compared to 8,000 films in our Films on Demand subscription<\/li>\n<li>We have lost some of our funding sources for <em>Films on Demand<\/em> and will be unlikely to continue the subscription<\/li>\n<li>Cost of <em>Academic Video Online: Premium<\/em> is 35% less than the cost of Films on Demand<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Features that both streaming products offer:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Full-length streaming films<\/li>\n<li>\u201cProxied\u201d URLs for films so they can be embedded into D2L for remote access by students<\/li>\n<li>Films in a broad range of subject areas (arts, humanities, social sciences, sciences, diversity) from quality, academic producers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What we need from faculty and instructors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you are a current <em>Films on Demand <\/em>user, please let us know if there is content in Academic Video Online: Premium that can be substituted for what you currently use in <em>Films on Demand <\/em>(or that there is no acceptable content); specific comments and titles will be most helpful to us \u2013 we may be able to suggest alternatives<\/li>\n<li>If you are not currently a <em>Films on Demand<\/em> user, please let us know if would find <em>Academic Video Online: Premium <\/em>a teaching tool you would find useful in your courses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What we need from students:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Please let us know if you find the content in <em>Academic Video Online: Premium<\/em> useful for your coursework and research. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please send us <a href=\"mailto:elsenc@uww.edu?subject=Academic Video Online Premium\">your feedback<\/a> by February 28, 2014 &#8211; thanks!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Library is conducting a trial of the Academic Video Online: Premium streaming film database from Alexander Street Press through February 28, 2014.
