Here are a few specialized sources for your research.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/images\/library\/blog\/frederick_douglass.jpg\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"Frederick Douglass\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>African American Biographical Database<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/aabd.chadwyck.com\/\">African American Biographical Database<\/a> contains biographical sketches of African-Americans from 1790-1950 taken from rare biographical dictionaries and other reference works<\/li>\n<li>The database is available to all Wisconsin residents via <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.badgerlink.net\/\">Badgerlink<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>African American Newspapers<\/strong> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/libproxy.uww.edu:9443\/login?url=http:\/\/infoweb.newsbank.com\/?db=EANX&#038;d_collections=EANAAA\">African American Newspapers, 1827-1998<\/a>, enables users to search more than 270 African American newspapers published in the 19th and 20th centuries.<\/li>\n<li>\nCreated in partnership with the Wisconsin Historical Society, the Kansas State Historical Society and the Library of Congress, African American Newspapers chronicles a century and a half of the African American experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>African American Periodicals <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/libproxy.uww.edu:9443\/login?url=http:\/\/infoweb.newsbank.com\/?db=EAPX\">African American Periodicals, 1825-1995<\/a>, features more than 170 wide-ranging periodicals by and about African Americans.<\/li>\n<li>Published in 26 states, the publications include academic and poltical journals,commercial magazines, institutional newsletters, organizations&#8217; bulletins, annual reports and other genres.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ethnic News Watch<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/libproxy.uww.edu:9443\/login?url=http:\/\/search.proquest.com\/ethnicnewswatch?accountid=14791\">Ethnic News Watch<\/a> is a bilingual (English\/Spanish) database of magazine, newspaper and journal articles from the ethnic and minority press in the United States<\/li>\n<li>Presents perspectives different from those found in the much of the mainstream media<\/li>\n<li>Search by ethnic group, subject, document type (interview, editorial, etc.), geographic location and more <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Black Drama 1850-present<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/libproxy.uww.edu:9443\/login?url=http:\/\/solomon.bldr.alexanderstreet.com\/\">Black Drama<\/a> contains the text of 1200 plays by 215 playwrights<\/li>\n<li>Search for plays by title, author, character (including occupation and race), scenes, literary period and theater<\/li>\n<li>Locate unique and hard-to-find plays from the African-American theater.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>African American Music Reference<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/libproxy.uww.edu:9443\/login?url=http:\/\/aamr.alexanderstreet.com\">African American Music Reference<\/a> provides access to text reference, biographies, chronologies, sheet music, images, lyrics, liner notes, and discographies which chronicle the diverse history and culture of the African American experience through music.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/libproxy.uww.edu:9443\/login?url=http:\/\/refuniv.odyssi.com\">Reference Universe<\/a> can help you find articles in specialized encyclopedias, biographical sources, handbooks and other reference-type books.
