{"id":1123,"date":"2008-12-15T15:29:48","date_gmt":"2008-12-15T21:29:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/library\/?p=1123"},"modified":"2008-12-15T16:59:26","modified_gmt":"2008-12-15T22:59:26","slug":"books-and-now-magazines-too","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/library\/archives\/1123","title":{"rendered":"Books and Now Magazines Too!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve talked about the <a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/\">Google Book Search<\/a> and its <a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/googlebooks\/library.html\">partnership with libraries<\/a> &#8211; you know the one where Google is scanning millions of books and making them searchable. All in all, a pretty sweet project.<\/p>\n<p>Well, they haven&#8217;t stopped with just books. They <a href=\"http:\/\/googleblog.blogspot.com\/2008\/12\/search-and-find-magazines-on-google.html\">announced last week<\/a> that they&#8217;re working with magazine publishers to digitize their backfiles and making them freely available. They&#8217;ve got titles like the <a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=jgcAAAAAMBAJ\">Vegetarian Times<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=Jb8DAAAAMBAJ\">Jet<\/a> and my personal favorite, <a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=XAsAAAAAMBAJ\">Bulletin of Atomic Scientists<\/a>. If you use the <a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/advanced_book_search\">advanced book search<\/a>, you can limit your results to only magazine articles. You can then view the content as it was originally published, ads and all.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the University Library has tons of magazines, journals and newspapers for your research, both online and in print.
