If you want to know where technology is going, see what people are doing now when it’s hard; when they’re struggling to achieve it, and then make it easier to achieve – Henry Jenkins

Henry Jenkins brings up some interesting points about media and it’s usage amongst the population. I found his comments about the Obama Presidential Campaign in 2008 to be quite fascinating. Jenkins states, “… the same impulse that leads kids today to put content up on their Facebook page… that desire to create and share what you create with others is really really powerful. Right now we are seeing that notion of participatory culture spill over politically.” Jenkins then goes on about how the Obama administration utilized social media people were able to connect, share, and like those posts. In the video “Obama Outpaces Romney in Social Media Campaign,” we see just how much of an advantage Obama took when using social media.
Much like in our reading for today, “It Takes a Village to Find a Phone,” we see how well the internet can connect all of us and how it can be used as a tool. Whether it’s people banding together to recover stolen property, or if it’s people sharing their beliefs on a Presidential Candidate. the internet can connect us all if we utilize it correctly.
