The men\u2019s team placed <a href=\"https:\/\/uwwsports.com\/documents\/2018\/9\/28\/men_uwec.pdf\">18 out of 20<\/a> and the women\u2019s team <a href=\"https:\/\/uwwsports.com\/documents\/2018\/9\/28\/women_uwec.pdf\">18 out of 25<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UW-Stout won the men\u2019s 8k course with a score of 75, with St. Olaf taking second and UW-Eau Claire placing third. On the women\u2019s side, UW-Eau won the 6k course <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-18 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/j486mandaslaback\/files\/2018\/10\/Colfax-Runner-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/j486mandaslaback\/files\/2018\/10\/Colfax-Runner-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/j486mandaslaback\/files\/2018\/10\/Colfax-Runner.jpg 280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/>scoring 80 points. Carleton came in as a close second with 82 points and Wheaton in third.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sophomore David Fassbender led the UW-Whitewater team with a time of 24:52.9. Fassbender placed in the overall top five in the men\u2019s 8k course. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Placing third for Whitewater was sophomore Kyle Neouth. Neuroth expressed his excitement on Fassbender\u2019s accomplishment. \u201cDavid finishing in the top five in the race is amazing,\u201d said Neuroth, \u201cHe\u2019s a kid that will never give up and will never back down from a difficult race.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fassbender is on his way to set a new record at UW-Whitewater in the men\u2019s 8k course. The rest of the men\u2019s team members hope to follow close behind. \u201cI think the meet was a good step in the right direction to our top potential, and that\u2019s to make Nationals,\u201d said Neuroth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jessie Braun finished first for UW-Whitewater scoring 65 points with a time of 23:56.4 in the women\u2019s 6k course. The Colfax Golf Course was comprised of an uneven terrain with many hills, but overall both teams seemed to really enjoy the course. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOverall I think that the meet went very well,\u201d said Braun, \u201cThere was a very competitive field of runners and lot of conference schools competing in preparation for the conference meet.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The men\u2019s and women\u2019s cross-country coaching <a href=\"https:\/\/uwwsports.com\/coaches.aspx?path=mcross&amp;\">staff<\/a> includes head coach Jeff Miller and two assistant coaches, RJ Soderman and Amanda Brom. This fall season is Brom\u2019s first year as an assistant coach. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt was a great day for a meet, the weather was awesome and we had some great competition,\u201d said Brom. Brom wants the team to focus on conference competition and pushing other teammates. Brom\u2019s biggest focus this season to get her athletes healthy. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The men\u2019s and women\u2019s cross-country teams will compete at the Kollege Town Sports Invitational.
