UWW-TV’S Newest Show

On September 21st, 2020 the UWW-TV Sports Staff met via Webex to further discuss the outline of a new sports debate show called P.E.O.M.I.O.S.F.Y.R.D.S. Since the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, or WIAC, has canceled fall and winter sports for the 2020-2021 season, the sports staff is excited to talk about sports and fill a need for the community. One of the biggest disappointments that came over the summer is the WIAC cancelling the football season for the fall, but the football team is still practicing and Inside Warhawk Football will also continue with Sports Director Sami Huggins interviewing Head Coach Kevin Bullis.

“I talked with Coach Bullis and he said he was willing to do the interview at the Student Athletic Complex like we usually do, but was not on board with doing it at Perkins Stadium and getting B-roll of the practices.”

Huggins also added “I’m worried I may run out of questions to ask him since they are not playing any games and the questions about recruiting, practice, coronavirus and the connection to playing or not as well as how the offseason went.”

PEOMIOSFYRDS will be a half hour sports debate show featuring two hosts and a new guest joining the show every week to talk about the hot button topics in the sports world. The show will also feature two segments of Inside Warhawk Football and the UWW-TV Sports Update. Austin Dowdall, the Sports Reacher for UWW-TV, says they will have national stories and headlines to cover since most sports stories that are local are cancelled due to the pandemic.

“I thought we could talk about how the Brewers are doing for our first topic, then go into the Big Ten and how they are opening the season on October 24th, and then we could talk about the NBA playoffs for another story once that gets completed, and then the NFL.”

Austin also added that everyone is going to have to pitch in on the behind the scenes work and on air. UWW-TV will also use TV practicum students to help out with behind the scenes production to give them valuable experience.

“If my math is correct, we will need three practium students for the camera work, another person to run the teleprompter, and then another to work the audio. Our staff will then have someone direct the show to bring experience to the show.”

This show will air on UWW-TV, October 8th.
