He is that guy that shares the news of Wisconsin and\neven some other videos like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=XNej4yw4FGE&amp;list=PLRY-eAwoPfKBdGfuDu081r-bSMapeg0GB&amp;index=119\">travel\nguides<\/a>, or just funny Wisconsin sayings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But that hasn\u2019t always been the case. When he first\nstarted out in the industry, it makes you laugh like the videos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Berens started working while in college at UW-Madison,\nwhen he worked for MTV for their political show Choose or Lose. This consisted\nof writing a story or recording a video once a week on campus about the\npolitical climate there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After graduating, Berens moved to Los Angeles and worked\nfor a production company as an assistant. Basically, he was the guy that went\nand got the coffee all the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While working there, he started making his own videos\nand was interviewing actors that he came across during his time with the\ncompany. Berens then edited these videos with all the equipment that he had\naccess to with the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seeing how this was working for him, he then went on\nto South Carolina to work for a company to produce videos for a company that went\nthrough YouTube. With this, he was able to combine his passion for this craft\nand comedy and post these videos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With all the success that Berens had here, he then\nwent on to work for a TV station in Texas, where they wanted to combine the\ncomedy and news to make news clips. He went on to win an Emmy for the success\nof these clips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the news stream figured that they couldn\u2019t\ncombine news and comedy, so Berens was let go. He then found work as a\nred-carpet host but knew that wasn\u2019t going to last long in his career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI took all the negative stuff news directors said\nabout me and made this character\u201d said Berens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While in Texas, he hired a voice coach to help him\nhide his Wisconsin accent and become more neutral. This helped Berens hide his\naccent but, he was able to turn that into a comedy bit that has made him a\nwell-known name in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHaving an understanding of the state, because he is from\nthe state, and not just a mocking of the state, really shows you how much he\nloves the state\u201d said Sami Huggins, a fan of his work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With Berens becoming the face of Wisconsin, no wonder\nwhy he chooses to \u201cpoke fun\u201d at the Wisconsin accent and show how fun our state\ncan be.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When you hear the name Charlie Berens, people instantly go to the Manitowoc Minute.
