On this post, I interviewed my mom, Michelle Juedes and asked her a few questions about her past life as a bowler and how things are changing through her years.
Michelle Juedes, 54, lives in Menasha Wisconsin and has two kids. Joshua Juedes, 21 and
Mackenzie Juedes, 20 are rising bowling stars. But things have changed for Michelle.
Fun facts:
Michelle started bowling in High school
She started her kids at a young age at five years old
Her boyfriend Mike used to be in the PBA (Pro Bowlers Association)
When did you get started with bowling?
I was in High School when it became serious. My parents and great grandparents
introduced me to it. My mom worked in a bowling alley for 20 years and I knew it was for me.
Why did you get your kids involved with bowling?
I started my kids at five years old because I wanted them to see the progress I never had
growing up. If they didn’t want to bowl when they got a little older, that was okay with me.
Fortunately, they began the process and stepped up to the plate. Now my son still continues
bowling, but not a lot due to having a job, a girlfriend and a recent house purchase. My daughter
is now on the University of Wisconsin Whitewater Women’s bowling team and continues to
thrive every time I see her bowl.
How different is bowling from when you started to now?
Back then it was completely different. Most people only did one handed and had no rev
rate. But now, it’s more common to bowl two handed and people can rev it up. Kids are getting
more technology and help from people all over the world. I only had a couple coaches and my
parents. Now my kids get to enjoy YouTube videos, famous pro bowlers and kids understand
things quicker to us old adults.
What is one piece of advice would you give a future bowler?
Always keep focus. By keeping your focus, It’s always easier to figure out the mistakes.
Without focusing on your mistakes, you can’t become any better.
