My name is Adam Reed, and I was born and raised in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. I was raised in a very conservative home, and although I have formed my own opinions about life, it gave me a strong foundation of character, morals, and values that I am very thankful for.
I graduated from a small Christian school in 2005, with the intent of dedicating my life to being a pastor. After one year of college in Crown Point, Indiana, I realized that I had been blindly serving the interests of others in my life, and decided to find my own path. As a 19 year-old young man, I stepped out from under the shelter of the only way of life I had ever known, and in July of 2007, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where I proudly served my country for eight years.
During my time as a Marine, I had the rare opportunity to see much of the world at a young age. I travelled throughout the majority of the continental United States, and also visited Canada, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Japan and Korea. The experiences that I have had in my travels have given me an invaluable perspective on life. For me, the world is no longer something that I have read about or seen on the news. It is a living, breathing thing that is mysterious and exciting. The passion that I have for life is a huge part of why I want to pursue a career in journalism. I feel like there is so much to the world that has yet to be shared, and I would love to be the one to share it with my readers, viewers, or listeners.
This blog is a step in my evolution as I continue to transition from Marine to journalist. I am excited to share experiences and stories as I grow as a person, reporter and writer. Thanks for stopping by!
