The Guatemalan artist Regina José Galindo is compared to Iowa’s Ana Mendieta or Serbian Marina Abramovic for the audacity of her body-based work and the attention it directs toward themes of women and politics.
Her first solo show in New York is up this month at the gallery Exit Art.

I read this story about her here online. It says that she was encased in a body cast for 5 days. I was going to ask Is that part of her art? Or was she in a an accident? Well I already know that answer.
This was interesting to learn about even though there is not much to say about her. And Regina was compared to the Serbian Marina Abramovic which I thought was interesting because I’m serbian too.
I’ve never heard of her or her art. I wonder why she does this art and what polictical view she has on politics including wether is she a democrat or a republican?
Since this story got my attention, I would like to go see her first show in New York. But since the teacher posted this in November, it would occur to me that maybe I missed it because it was in November. I would still like to learn more about her and why she decided to do body art instead of painting or something else.
