{"id":63412,"date":"2021-03-18T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-03-18T15:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/?p=63412"},"modified":"2021-03-18T08:31:45","modified_gmt":"2021-03-18T13:31:45","slug":"canvas-update-03-20-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/2021\/03\/18\/canvas-update-03-20-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Canvas Update (03\/20\/2021)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Saturday, March 20, Instructure will deploy the latest release to the Canvas environment.&nbsp; The highlights of this release are listed below.&nbsp; The full&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/t5\/Releases\/Canvas-Release-Notes-2021-03-20\/ta-p\/446668\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">release notes<\/a>&nbsp;are also available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><strong>Assignments \u2013 Webcam Submissions:<\/strong><\/strong>\u00a0File upload assignments that allow for the upload of a .png file will allow students to use their webcam to take a photo.<\/li><li><strong><strong>Course Settings \u2013 Course Availability Date Enhancements:\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong>When an instructor views the Participation section in the Course Settings page, the Participation section displays a menu that defaults to Term dates for new courses. This option sets student course participation to the start and end dates defined for the term.<\/li><li><strong>Modules &#8211; New Quiz Support:<\/strong>\u00a0When an instructor adds an item to a module and selects a quiz, the Create Quiz option displays both the New Quizzes and Classic Quizzes quiz engines. New Quizzes is the default, but instructors can switch to Classic Quizzes and create a name for the quiz.<\/li><li><strong>Outcomes \u2013 Learning Mastery Gradebook Student Filters:<\/strong>\u00a0The Learning Mastery Gradebook includes filters for inactive and concluded enrollments. This change allows instructors to view outcomes data in the Learning Mastery Gradebook for students who no longer have an active enrollment in their course.<\/li><li><strong>Rich Content Editor \u2013 File Preview Enhancements:<\/strong>\u00a0Files linked in the Rich Content Editor can be previewed in an overlay or inline. This change allows users to control the display of the file preview. Previously all file previews opened in a new browser tab.<\/li><li><strong>SpeedGrader \u2013 Submission Reassignments:<\/strong>\u00a0In SpeedGrader, instructors can reassign an assignment to an individual student and ask them to redo their submission, as long as the student has submissions remaining on the assignment.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>UW-Whitewater Updates<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Resolved Issue &#8211; Webex Meeting Password required:<\/strong>\u00a0Students joining a Webex Meeting from Canvas using the web browser were being prompted for a meeting password. This issue has been resolved. For additional details, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/2021\/03\/09\/canvas-webex-meeting-password-required-issue\/\" target=\"_blank\">please see our post<\/a>.<\/li><li><strong>Additional Canvas Personal Pronoun Options &#8211; March 23rd.<\/strong> UW-System will be enabling additional personal pronouns inside of Canvas on Tuesday March 23rd.
