{"id":62755,"date":"2020-04-17T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-04-17T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/?p=62755"},"modified":"2020-04-16T09:27:14","modified_gmt":"2020-04-16T14:27:14","slug":"canvas-update-04-18-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/2020\/04\/17\/canvas-update-04-18-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Canvas Update (04\/18\/2020)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Saturday, April 14, Instructure will deploy the latest release to the Canvas environment.&nbsp; The highlights of this release are listed below.&nbsp; The full&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/docs\/DOC-18579-canvas-release-notes-2020-04-18\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">release notes<\/a>&nbsp;are also available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/docs\/DOC-18579-canvas-release-notes-2020-04-18#jive_content_id_Mute_Notifications_by_Course\" target=\"_blank\">Notifications &#8211; Mute Notifications by course<\/a>: Users will now be able to mute notifications from individual courses.<\/li><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/docs\/DOC-18579-canvas-release-notes-2020-04-18#jive_content_id_Limited_Submission_Attempts\" target=\"_blank\">Assignments &#8211; Limited Submission Attempts<\/a>: Teachers will now be able to set a maximum number of submission attempts allowed for Assignments.<\/li><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/docs\/DOC-18579-canvas-release-notes-2020-04-18#jive_content_id_Assignment_Header_Menu_SpeedGrader_Link\" target=\"_blank\">Gradebook &#8211; Additional SpeedGrader access<\/a>: The Assignment header menu in the Grades area will now include a link to SpeedGrader for easier access.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/docs\/DOC-18579-canvas-release-notes-2020-04-18#jive_content_id_Course_Navigation_Rubrics_Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Course navigation &#8211; Rubrics<\/a>: The Manage Rubrics button will no longer be available through Outcomes, and will instead have its own Course Navigation button.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Instructure has moved to a &#8220;Ready Release&#8221; method of weekly updates to address pressing issues during the sudden shift to online. The <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/community\/answers\/releases\/release-notes-canvas\/pages\/rr-features\" target=\"_blank\">full list of ready release notes<\/a> are available. We have included what we believe to be the two most notable updates here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/docs\/DOC-26658-ready-release-notes-2020-04-18#jive_content_id_Due_and_Availability_Date_Bulk_Edit\" target=\"_blank\">Assignments &#8211; Edit assignment due dates and availability<\/a>: Instructors can now edit the due dates and availability dates for all assignments in a single page.<\/li><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/docs\/DOC-20097-ready-release-notes-2020-04-04#jive_content_id_Teacher_Mobile_App_Login_QR_Code\" target=\"_blank\">User Navigation &#8211; QR Code login from app<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/docs\/DOC-20097-ready-release-notes-2020-04-04#jive_content_id_Teacher_Mobile_App_Login_QR_Code\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Instructors<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/docs\/DOC-18596-ready-release-notes-2020-03-28#jive_content_id_Mobile_App_Login_QR_Code\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">students<\/a> using the phone apps will now be able to log into it using a QR code.<\/li><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/docs\/DOC-20097-ready-release-notes-2020-04-04#jive_content_id_Analytics_Chart_Tabs\" target=\"_blank\">Analytics &#8211; Chart tabs<\/a>: Analytics charts are now available in tabs rather than a dropdown.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-5b3c9ad4-2c2b-4284-a028-fb3df3a4c7df\">UW-Whitewater Updates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>D2L Retirement is progressing.<\/strong> &nbsp;All information you would like to keep&nbsp;<strong>must be exported out of D2L before June 1st, 2020<\/strong>. Whether it\u2019s an old for-credit based course, or an ongoing course \u2013 make sure all material is backed up. Once our access is removed, we will not have any way to obtain this data.
