{"id":61777,"date":"2019-02-15T15:14:38","date_gmt":"2019-02-15T21:14:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/?p=61777"},"modified":"2019-02-15T15:14:38","modified_gmt":"2019-02-15T21:14:38","slug":"ted-tips-issue-25-ideas-for-digital-instruction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/2019\/02\/15\/ted-tips-issue-25-ideas-for-digital-instruction\/","title":{"rendered":"TED Tips &#8212; Issue 25: Ideas for Digital Instruction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to a very special 25th issue of UWW Ted Tips!\u00a0 This special blog post takes the form of a video blog or VLOG!\u00a0 You&#8217;ll find a video recording below with an outline of notes.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MRGwqGNxmok?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The main purpose of the TED Tips blog this week is to provide some ideas of how to build a digital &#8220;lesson&#8221; and to show you some ideas how to do that inside of Canvas!<\/p>\n<p>The main idea is to create a written outline or &#8220;to do&#8221; list associated with that idea.\u00a0 It is always a good idea to provide communications to students for a completed lesson &#8212; in this case, I&#8217;ve shown an announcement in Canvas for that page.<\/p>\n<p>Inside of Canvas, you&#8217;ll want to create a page or a module as a &#8220;wrapper&#8221; to contain the content.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a good idea to include a purpose or objectives &#8212; what&#8217;s the key idea or essential learnings for the digital content.<\/p>\n<p>Things to consider including in a lesson:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Summary of key points<\/li>\n<li>Outline of main ideas<\/li>\n<li>A review of previous content or how this connects to the larger course content<\/li>\n<li>You can include a Video summary or note\n<ul>\n<li>(similar to what&#8217;s shown in the VLOG!) this particular vlog posts shows an introduction [timestamp 1:21]<\/li>\n<li>an example is shown in the Vlog to a previous piece of digital content<\/li>\n<li>Canvas supports Kaltura Capture which is an easy way to record simple videos or screencasts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Lecture notes<\/li>\n<li>Powerpoint presentation<\/li>\n<li>Related readings from a textbook or other course documents<\/li>\n<li>Links to other websites or resources<\/li>\n<li>Multimedia embedded from other sources\n<ul>\n<li>Lynda videos\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/go.uww.edu\/lynda\">http:\/\/go.uww.edu\/lynda<\/a><\/li>\n<li>example:\u00a0 the Vlog shows an example called Digital Transformation of Learning by Daniel Brigham [timestamp: 2:41]\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynda.com\/Education-Elearning-tutorials\/Digital-Transformation-Learning\/765322-2.html\">https:\/\/www.lynda.com\/Education-Elearning-tutorials\/Digital-Transformation-Learning\/765322-2.html<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>YouTube Videos<\/li>\n<li>Podcasts<\/li>\n<li>Films on Demand:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.uww.edu\/filmsondemand\">https:\/\/libguides.uww.edu\/filmsondemand<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>TIP:\u00a0 It is always helpful for students to provide context and clear insights for what is important for students to review.\u00a0 Instead of just linking to a multimedia source or video, provide a timestamp and other clear guidance.
