{"id":61223,"date":"2018-08-29T07:57:33","date_gmt":"2018-08-29T12:57:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/?p=61223"},"modified":"2018-08-29T14:23:22","modified_gmt":"2018-08-29T19:23:22","slug":"turning-point-updates-for-instructors-fall-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/2018\/08\/29\/turning-point-updates-for-instructors-fall-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Turning Point Updates for Instructors &#8211; Fall 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-60700\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/files\/2018\/02\/turningpoint-logo.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"219\" height=\"201\" \/>The start of the Fall 2018 Semester is fast approaching, and I just wanted to highlight some important information about Turning Point.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Turning Point 8.\u00a0 <\/strong>Starting with the Fall 2018 semester, we will be using Turning Point 8.\u00a0 The software will be installed on all PC and Mac classroom machines.\u00a0 If you want to install it on your laptop \/ desktop, you can download it from: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.turningtechnologies.com\/downloads\/turningpoint-desktop\/\">https:\/\/www.turningtechnologies.com\/downloads\/turningpoint-desktop\/<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Canvas Integration.<\/strong>\u00a0 Turning Point 8 has only been integrated with Canvas, and will not work with Desire2Learn.\u00a0 All Turning Point usage for the Fall 2018 semester should be done in Canvas.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Registration Link.<\/strong>\u00a0 In Desire2Learn, we were able to add some global links for Turning Point device registration.\u00a0 In Canvas, we no longer have that option.\u00a0 Instructors will need to add a link into their course for the registration.\u00a0 There is a guide that walks through this process available at: <a href=\"https:\/\/spaces.uww.edu\/x\/VwOv\">https:\/\/spaces.uww.edu\/x\/VwOv<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>User Guides \/ Video Tutorials.\u00a0<\/strong> Turning Point has resources available that we have posted for you at: <a href=\"https:\/\/spaces.uww.edu\/x\/SIK\">https:\/\/spaces.uww.edu\/x\/SIK<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Vendor Support<\/strong>.\u00a0 Turning Technologies offers Phone, Chat and Email support for students and instructors Monday &#8211; Friday from 7am to 8pm (Central Time).\n<ul>\n<li>Phone: 1.866.746.3015<\/li>\n<li>Chat: Visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.turningtechnologies.com\/\">http:\/\/www.turningtechnologies.com\/<\/a> &#8211; a chat window will appear in the bottom right corner during open hours.<\/li>\n<li>Email: <a href=\"mailto:support@turningtechnologies.com\">support@turningtechnologies.com<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Course Roster Sync.<\/strong>\u00a0 With Turning Point 8 and Canvas, the course roster sync has been greatly improved &#8211; and now happens on a nightly basis!\u00a0 <strong>You will need to Publish your course before you can sync the course roster.<\/strong>\u00a0 The video below will walk through this in more detail and show some examples.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vSyguvgpUJ0?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>If you have questions regarding TurningPoint, please contact the <a href=\"http:\/\/ltc.uww.edu\">UW-W Learning Technology Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The start of the Fall 2018 Semester is fast approaching, and I just wanted to highlight some important information about Turning Point.
