{"id":61176,"date":"2018-08-13T11:49:39","date_gmt":"2018-08-13T16:49:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/?p=61176"},"modified":"2018-08-13T11:49:39","modified_gmt":"2018-08-13T16:49:39","slug":"fall-2018-canvas-courses-now-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/2018\/08\/13\/fall-2018-canvas-courses-now-available\/","title":{"rendered":"Fall 2018 Canvas Courses Now Available"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/files\/2017\/08\/canvas_stack.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-59897 \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/files\/2017\/08\/canvas_stack-300x247.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"216\" height=\"179\" \/><\/a>Beginning on Friday, August 10th, 2018 all <strong>Fall 2018 courses are now available <\/strong>in Canvas.\u00a0 A few reminders about how this works:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>No More Course Requests!<\/strong>\u00a0 With Canvas, your courses will be automatically created every semester.\u00a0 You no longer need to fill out a course request form.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Course Combinations<\/strong>.\u00a0 Do you want to combine multiple sections of the same course into a single Canvas course?\u00a0 Follow the steps in the <a href=\"https:\/\/spaces.uww.edu\/x\/pQKv\">Cross-Listing\/Merging Canvas Courses<\/a> guide.\u00a0 If you need to combine courses that you are not the teacher for or if you have any questions please contact <a href=\"http:\/\/uww.edu\/canvas\">Canvas support<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now that you have your course &#8211; here is what&#8217;s next:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Courses are Unpublished<\/strong>.\u00a0 By default, all courses that are created in Canvas will come across as unpublished.\u00a0 When a course is unpublished, it&#8217;s only visible to you &#8211; and students will not see the course.\u00a0 Once you have your content loaded up into the course and ready to go, simply hit the &#8220;Publish&#8221; button in the top right corner on the course home page.\u00a0 For more information see: <a href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/docs\/DOC-13030-415257126\">Canvas Guide: How do I publish a course?<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Import your content (Master Course)<\/strong>.\u00a0 If you have been working in a Master (Blank) course inside of Canvas &#8211; great!\u00a0 You can easily copy that content into your Fall semester course and then you&#8217;ll be ready to go!\u00a0 Follow these steps to <a href=\"https:\/\/community.canvaslms.com\/docs\/DOC-12935-415257077\">Copy Content from an Existing Canvas Course<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Import your content (Desire2Learn)<\/strong>.\u00a0 If you want to pull content directly over from Desire2Learn into your Canvas course &#8211; we got you covered!\u00a0 Follow these steps to <a href=\"https:\/\/spaces.uww.edu\/x\/HoCc\">Export your Desire2Learn Course and Import it into Canvas<\/a>. Keep in mind, there will be some adjustments you need to make &#8211; so don&#8217;t want until the last minute.\u00a0 Check out the <a href=\"http:\/\/dl.uwsa.edu\">D2L Course Complexity App<\/a> for more information.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Canvas Support.<\/strong>\u00a0 As a reminder, with Canvas we do have 24\/7\/365 Phone, Chat and Email Support (links on the <a href=\"http:\/\/uww.edu\/canvas\">login page<\/a>)!\u00a0 Please direct all questions to Canvas support.\u00a0 If they cannot assist you, they will escalate the issue to local support at UW-Whitewater.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Many of the external applications and integrations that were available in D2L are already completed and ready to go in Canvas.\u00a0 <strong>Respondus LockDown Browser has recently been completed is now available<\/strong> and ready for use.\u00a0 For the full list of integrations, check out the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/icit\/ltc\/canvas-portal\/integrations\">External Applications Integrations<\/a> list.<\/p>\n<p>Want to learn more about Canvas?
