{"id":61020,"date":"2018-06-14T10:31:09","date_gmt":"2018-06-14T15:31:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/?p=61020"},"modified":"2018-06-14T10:31:09","modified_gmt":"2018-06-14T15:31:09","slug":"canvas-transition-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/2018\/06\/14\/canvas-transition-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Canvas Transition Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/files\/2017\/08\/canvas_stack.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-59897 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/files\/2017\/08\/canvas_stack-300x247.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"229\" height=\"190\" \/><\/a>We hope you had a great Spring semester!\u00a0 We have been continuing to work on the deployment of the Canvas platform.\u00a0 A few quick updates:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Instructor Training Course.<\/strong>\u00a0 All faculty who have taught a course in the last two semesters, or are already scheduled to teach next fall, will be invited to join the Canvas Instructor Training course. To gain access, simply click the \u201cGet Started\u201d button in the email when it arrives, or sign into Canvas to accept the invitation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fall 2018 Courses<\/strong>.\u00a0 The UW-System is working out the final issues with WINS enrollments and the Fall 2018 courses are expected to be available in July.\u00a0 <em>Courses will be automatically created for you<\/em>, and there will no longer be a request process.\u00a0 Currently all instructors should have access to at least 3 Blank Courses.\u00a0 These courses can be used as a <em>Master Course<\/em> to develop your content which can then easily be copied over into your Fall 2018 course once it is created.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Freshman Facing Courses<\/strong>.\u00a0 Are you teaching a course that typically has incoming freshman?\u00a0 We strongly encourage you to get started with Canvas in the Fall 2018 semester!\u00a0 We have been working instructors of the most common freshman courses, and we are trying to get as many of them over to Canvas as possible.\u00a0 Our goal is to make things easier for the students, and limit their need to learn both Canvas and Desire2Learn.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Course Integrations (Turnitin, Lockdown Browser, etc)<\/strong>.\u00a0 We are actively working on getting all of the integrations in place.\u00a0 Currently, the following integration&#8217;s are complete and ready for you to use: Films on Demand, Google Drive, Turning Point 8, Turnitin and W. W. Norton &#8211; InQuizitive.\u00a0 For the full list of integration&#8217;s that are still being worked on, check out the tracking page at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/icit\/ltc\/canvas-portal\/integrations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">External Application Integrations List<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Canvas Peer Mentors.<\/strong>\u00a0 The LTC has college-specific peer mentors available to help assist their colleges with the Canvas Transition.\u00a0 The peer mentors are available to help answer your migration questions, and can provide you training information and resources about the Canvas platform.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uww.edu\/icit\/ltc\/canvas-portal\/peer-mentors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meet your Peer Mentors<\/a>!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Want to learn more about Canvas?
