{"id":60826,"date":"2018-04-08T08:00:08","date_gmt":"2018-04-08T13:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/?p=60826"},"modified":"2018-04-06T07:55:46","modified_gmt":"2018-04-06T12:55:46","slug":"teaching-with-spark-bootcamp-begins-this-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/2018\/04\/08\/teaching-with-spark-bootcamp-begins-this-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Teaching with Spark Bootcamp Begins This Week!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you are looking for a tool to facilitate communication and collaboration between your students, you might be interested in the Learning Technology Center\u2019s (LTC) first ever \u201cTeaching with Spark Bootcamp!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bootcamp will take place in McGraw 19A on a series of Tuesday afternoons this April (4\/10, 4\/17, 4\/24) from 3:30 pm to 4:20 pm. Please see the video below for a reflection from a UW-Whitewater instructor who used Spark in the Fall of 2018.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Q8kYj4ING18?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>UW-Whitewater now has a campus license for <a href=\"https:\/\/spaces.uww.edu\/display\/instructional\/Getting+Started+with+Spark\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spark<\/a>, so, feel free to bring your computer or mobile device to the bootcamp sessions and log into Spark (be sure to bring your device if you attend the &#8220;hands-on&#8221; session on April 17th)! If you would like to download Spark prior to attending, please see our documentation on how to install Spark on a <a href=\"https:\/\/spaces.uww.edu\/display\/instructional\/How+to+Download+on+a+Desktop+Device\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">desktop device<\/a>, and on a <a href=\"https:\/\/spaces.uww.edu\/display\/instructional\/How+to+Download+on+a+Mobile+Device\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mobile device<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>All faculty and instructional staff are welcome to attend the \u201cTeaching with Spark Bootcamp.\u201d Registration is recommended, but walk-ins are also welcome.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Bootcamp Summary:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>April 10th, 2018: <em>Why Should I Use Spark?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Registration Link:<a href=\"http:\/\/my.uww.edu\/signup\/Registration\/Details\/15513\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> http:\/\/my.uww.edu\/signup\/Registration\/Details\/15513<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This first session introduces participants to Cisco Spark, and why they might benefit from incorporating it into their teaching. Participants will be introduced to the concepts of \u201cTeams\u201d and \u201cSpaces.\u201d Facilitators will provide examples to help participants understand what Spark is (and is not), how Spark works, and the purpose in using Spark.<\/p>\n<p>April 17th, 2018: <em>How Do I Use Spark?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Registration Link: <a href=\"http:\/\/my.uww.edu\/signup\/Registration\/Details\/15514\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/my.uww.edu\/signup\/Registration\/Details\/15514<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This second session provides participants with a hands-on technical training with Cisco Spark. Participants will practice creating \u201cTeams\u201d and \u201cSpaces,\u201d as well using Spark to communicate and collaborate with others.<\/p>\n<p>April 24th, 2018: <em>Now What Do I Do With Spark?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Registration Link:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/my.uww.edu\/signup\/Registration\/Details\/15515\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/my.uww.edu\/signup\/Registration\/Details\/15515<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This third, and final, session provides participants with a forum to discuss potential applications of Spark in their teaching.
