{"id":58770,"date":"2016-03-17T09:52:31","date_gmt":"2016-03-17T14:52:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/?p=58770"},"modified":"2017-01-06T11:27:33","modified_gmt":"2017-01-06T17:27:33","slug":"rfp-community-of-practice-project-grants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/2016\/03\/17\/rfp-community-of-practice-project-grants\/","title":{"rendered":"RFP, Community of Practice Project Grants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-58782\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/instructional\/files\/2016\/03\/LTC_Logo_FB.png\" alt=\"LTC_Logo_FB\" width=\"250\" height=\"391\" \/>The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Learning Technology Center is pleased to announce the Request for Proposal (RFP) for funding for five course-based projects, focusing on innovations in online or blended education. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each project will be funded $300 for the completion of a semester-long, course based project, which will take place the Fall 2016 semester. \u00a0If the project specifically investigates issues related to accessibility, the Center for Students with Disabilities has graciously agreed to supplement an additional $300, for a total of $600 per project. There is a small amount of additional funding for the purchase of licenses, if necessary for the project.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The purpose of these course-based projects is to experiment with a variety of technology-based teaching solutions that work to solve a pedagogical challenge in online and blended teaching and learning, and create a repository of resources to assist faculty who are confronting similar issues. \u00a0These five projects will focus on innovation in online\/blended education, with the intention that these innovative practices will be shared with the UW-Whitewater community, the UW-System, and beyond. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Potential projects may include: \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Engaging students through adaptive learning or gamification<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Exploring the effectiveness of different presentation styles and lengths using V-Brick Rev<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Flipping a current face-to-face course<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Incorporating open educational resources into content course design<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Investigating a new approach to online discussions<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Revising course using universal design principles for an accessible course<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Revising PDF readings to promote accessibility with screen readers<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Supporting collaborative assignments<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Project proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Potential to meet stated learning goals; <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ability to be implemented on a larger scale; <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Potential to impact instructor teaching;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Potential to impact student learning; and <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adding to the body of knowledge at the Learning Technology Center and UW-Whitewater<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The participants of these projects will be required to have three project development meetings with an LTC mentor over the course of the summer and fall semester. Participants will also need to collaborate with the LTC mentor for IRB approval. \u00a0Upon completion, participants will be expected to present their experiences at a session of the Community of Practice, have a formal presentation recorded in a media studio for distribution, and create artifacts to help others implement their practice. It will also be strongly encouraged that participants seek to publish in relevant journals or present their experiences at conferences such as the Learning Technology Development Council\u2019s Virtual Showcase, the OPID conference, and the regional D2L Ignite conferences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Deadlines: \u00a0Proposals are due April 15, 2016. \u00a0Accepted projects will be announced by May 2, 2016.\u00a0 Submit your proposal at: <a href=\"http:\/\/uwwhitewater.co1.qualtrics.com\/SE\/?SID=SV_8bQeyvsOFcMwwpn\" target=\"_blank\">Community of Practice RFP<\/a>.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applications will be completed in Qualtrics and will need to address the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is your name?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is your email address?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is your college?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In what Fall 2016 course will you be implementing your strategy? \u00a0Please provide the department, course number, and title (e.g., EDFOUND 243: \u00a0Foundations of Education in a Pluralistic Society).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is your expected course enrollment?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is the title of your project?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Who will be working on this project? \u00a0Please include yourself and any collaborators, along with appropriate contact information (i.e., phone number, email address, office location) <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What problem or issue are you planning to investigate in this project?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is your project plan?
