With the ever growing popularity of being socially connected via mobile devices such as smartphones, mobile games have become increasingly popular. Initially, mobile games were simple and rarely played by those who owned them. These ranged from Snake to Solitaire. However, as the demand for smartphones grew, so did the market for mobile video games. There have been countless blockbuster games, most of which didn’t make this list. This post is to give credit to the games that I personally enjoyed most as I grew up. I even play some of them today, maybe you do too!

5. Trivia Crack 1 & 2

This game came out some time when I was in high school, and all I can remember is getting my ass kicked by a family friend every time I played him in Trivia Crack. This game was extremely popular when it first released, as I can remember it taking over my high school. Everyone wanted to be the best Trivia Crack player, there was always someone willing to challenge another. Sadly, the game kind of died off after the initial eight month frenzy. Realizing this, they released Trivia Crack 2, which is refined and updated enough to be considered good. But it never really made the waves its predecessor was capable of making. If you’re looking to test your useless knowledge and compete against friends, I suggest you download this game today!

4. Clash Royale

Initially, I wasn’t a huge fan of this game. At the time of Clash Royale’s release, I was already “maining” (term used to describe what game you play most) Clash of Clans. For that reason, I felt that by playing another mobile game beside Clash of Clans would be traitorous (I know, high school mentalities are weird). I have just recently started playing it again and have found it immensely fun (and by recently, I mean two days ago). If you’re looking for a competitive troop-based game that requires little to no upkeep, I’d recommend this game to you. Something tells me that everyone can get a little something out of seeing goofy goblins and barbarians attack one another.

3. Last Day on Earth

As far as I remember, Last Day on Earth is a game that constantly introduces new content to its users. When I played the game, it was still in the beta stages of development. This, of course, came with the many exploits and mods that most pre-release games are victim to. Most of which, I used to get a leg up on the countless zombies that surround your base. I believe the game has been announced as finished, but still introduces consistent updates for its players. If you’re looking for a long-term, zombie-fueled adventure alongside your furry companion, look no further: this game is for you.

2. Among Us

Chances are, you’ve seen or heard of this game in the last two months or so. Seemingly out of nowhere, Among Us has become one of the more popular mobile titles in modern day gaming. What started off as a PC exclusive game has recently been released on mobile platforms for all to play. PC players may be upset that their once exclusive game has now been flooded with mobile players, but I feel that from a business perspective that this decision to expand the titles platforms was the right call. If you haven’t given this game a try yet, I suggest that you do. It’s endless fun trying to figure out who, among your group, are the imposters.

1. Clash of Clans

If there is a game that I would crown as the best of the best, it would have to be Clash of Clans. No other game has retained my interest for as long as this game has. Although this title and I have a spotty relationship, I have always gone back to it to indulge my need to plunder enemy bases. I started playing this game sometime during my freshman year of high school and am still playing it today in my senior year of college. That isn’t to say I didn’t take my breaks. My transition from high school to college was a weird one. I felt that I needed to act like a “grown up” and for some reason that meant deleting a game from my childhood that I have now spent 7 years playing? I’ve since shed that narrowminded ideology and continue to indulge in as many video games as I can; Clash of Clans being one of the main games I spend my time on.

These may not be games that you connected with, as there were countless popular mobile games that could have made this list. And if you have a game in mind that didn’t make the list, you should tell me which games you played most in the comments. I am by no means an expert on what makes a good mobile game, but if you have suggestions on games that I should try, again, please let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed the post!

I played Trivia Crack so much when I was in high school. My friends and I would constantly play it, and honestly, I would probably play it today if I downloaded it again. Among us is also a super fun game, I have played it quite a bit in the past couple of months. Cool post!

  2. The Last Day on Earth game looks really fun to play and I might have to check it out now. I’ve played Among Us on mobile and it’s a pretty fun game, but I do enjoy watching live streams of other players more. Awesome post!

  3. Wow, I haven’t thought about Trivia Crack in a long time. That used to be a great game! I like the idea of mobile games because any smart phone can run them, unlike traditional gaming systems. While you don’t get as much detail with mobile games (for the most part), they are definitely one of the best options for gaming socially.

I thought this was a good read. I need more games to play on my phone since now its pretty much just bitlife so I will for sure check these out!

  5. I recently just started playing Clash Royale with my boyfriend and I think it is so much fun! But it is a bit tricky to learn when you first start, just like you said. When you don’t have a coach at the game however it probably is way more confusing and less fun.
