Employment is an Activty Fair away…
By @geekygambit | April 25, 2015
With high unemployment, and more college aged individuals coming out of school looking to continue establishing a professional career, the competition for landing a job is now harder than previously.
Employment and work study is offered on campus atvarious activity and career events. Pay attention for these key dates and apply yourself.
Here is what I conclude what hiring managers are currently looking for. The following is what should be done.
- Dress for Success: Clean yourself up, look sharp and give off a professional vibe.
- Show Leadership: Like any woman will say, confidence is a turn on, and it sells during an interview.
- Come Prepared: Having your documentation and ID speeds up the process. Obviously for US job seekers, a Social Security Number should be memorized.
- Show Respect: “Yes sir” and “Yes ma’am” goes a long way in establishing lateral communications.
- Be-friendly: Like McDonald’s slogan from back in the day, “We love to see you smile.”
- Open Availability: Restricting when you can work can be flown upon.
One last tip I would like to share comes from what I learned in Organizational Communications at the U. Do some background research on the company you are interested in obtaining getting employed with. Knowing bits of facts, history or what exactly their mission is, will allow you to better understand how you can fill the role they are seeking, and will impress the person you are selling your self to.
