{"id":122,"date":"2017-03-14T03:33:57","date_gmt":"2017-03-14T03:33:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/frugalfood\/?p=122"},"modified":"2017-04-05T00:00:09","modified_gmt":"2017-04-05T00:00:09","slug":"chicken-and-veggie-power-bowl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/frugalfood\/2017\/03\/14\/chicken-and-veggie-power-bowl\/","title":{"rendered":"A Mighty Bowl of Goodness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So, I&#8217;ve been really trying to figure out how to incorporate veggies into my meals more. \u00a0I don&#8217;t know about you..but I am not a fan. \u00a0But, there&#8217;s no escaping it! \u00a0Veggies provide lots of essential vitamins and minerals, and freezer veggies are respectively priced. \u00a0Anyways, I needed a solid dinner to fill me up and I put some odds and ends together. \u00a0I ended up making a pretty good bowl of veggies, protein and carbs, and the best part is that it actually tasted good! \u00a0Due to my distain for greens, I&#8217;m going to assume that if I like it then anybody would.<\/p>\n<p>Overall Price:<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients: $3.50<\/p>\n<p>-1\/2 a sweet potato (.50 cents)<\/p>\n<p>-1\/2 cup of bell pepper (.50 cents)<\/p>\n<p>-1\/2 cup of broccoli cutlets (.50 cents)<\/p>\n<p>-1\/2 cup of rice (.30 cents)<\/p>\n<p>-3 strips of chicken ($1.50)<\/p>\n<p>-1 tablespoon of olive oil (.20 cents)<\/p>\n<p>Directions:<\/p>\n<p>1. Prepare\/cut up the sweet potato, bell pepper, broccoli and chicken and preheat oven to 425 degrees<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/frugalfood\/files\/2017\/03\/IMG_8260.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-123\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/frugalfood\/files\/2017\/03\/IMG_8260-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_8260\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/frugalfood\/files\/2017\/03\/IMG_8260-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/frugalfood\/files\/2017\/03\/IMG_8260-1024x577.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/frugalfood\/files\/2017\/03\/IMG_8260-500x282.jpg 500w, https:\/\/blogs.uww.edu\/frugalfood\/files\/2017\/03\/IMG_8260.jpg 1134w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2. While the veggies and chicken and cooking, prepare rice by mixing with 1 cup of water and microwave it for 5 minutes<\/p>\n<p>4.
