Either a smile that goes ear to ear or a squished up face that looks like they just got done sucking on a sour patch kid. Stories of tequila consumption range on a wide scale. On the downside, I’ve heard stories of people becoming ill or experiencing terrible hangovers. When I hear these stories, many different questions come to mind. Questions like how much tequila did they have, what else did they drink that night, but most importantly, what kind of tequila was it.

General Fallacy: All alcohol, including tequila, is the same. Drinking tequila that is made from 100% agave comes with medical health benefits. Agave is the succulent plant that is used to create tequila. Blanco (silver) tequila is purer than other mixed or aged tequilas. I know this may come as a surprise, but having a shot of tequila can help with the following;

Digestion: After eating a full meal, drinking 100% blue agave tequila makes it easy to digest your food. The agave plant contains large amounts of inulin, which is known to grow good bacteria that can help the digestive system.

Weight Loss: This is different for every individual. But agavins are a particular kind of sugar in tequila. Unlike other sugars, agavins won’t raise your blood sugar levels. Also, the algalvin sugar group produces the hormone GLP-1, which is known to help one feel fuller longer, stopping you from overeating.

Prevents Diabetes: If you have type 2 diabetes, tequila is the drink for you.
