The recent news about Dodge switching to electric is monumental in the company’s history. But it is not the first time Dodge has experimented with electric.
In 2009, Dodge put out a concept car called the Dodge Circuit EV at the 2009 North American International Auto Show. The Dodge Circuit was an all-electric sport car that had a 150 – 200-mile range and could charge in 8 hours.
The fully functional prototype was scheduled to enter production and enter the market for 2010 but was canceled only a few months after its reveal.
There isn’t much else on the car being that it was only ever a concept that was canceled but it goes to show that even 13 years ago Dodge was experimenting with electric. Which hopefully helps their current efforts with going all in with the switch to electric only.
I never realized that dodge has previously talked about an electric car. I guess in todays age, we think it is a new concept because Tesla seemed the first to actually make a huge industry out of it. This was very interesting to hear that back in 2009 they were already talking about this.
