In Light We Trust

In Light We Trust

September 8 – October 10, 2015

Reception: September 8 from 5-7 pm

In Light We Trust is an exhibition devoted to alternative process photography by five Wisconsin photographers (Carissa Heinrichs, Susan Messer, F. Martin Morante, Hal Rammel and Vicki Reed).  While digital technology at times plays a role in this work (producing digital negatives from various sources, ink jet printing of lumen prints that would otherwise fade in natural light, etc.), this exhibit will focus on the many fresh possibilities remaining in the realm of analog photography. Four of the photographers, Carissa Heinrichs, F. Martin Morante, Hal Rammel and Vicki Reed are members of the Gallery 224 Photography Center in Port Washington, WI.

The exhibit will feature pinhole photos and cameras, cyanotypes, lumen prints, Van Dyke, CMY gum bichromate and palladium prints, and some cameraless processes like photograms and cliché verre.

Included in the exhibit will be a small selection of various commercially manufactured and homemade cameras along with graphic illustrations of the means and methods of this work.  During the course of the show the artists will offer gallery talks on their work and students in the Beaux Arts Colony will provide peer-to-peer tours of the exhibit during one week of evening hours.
