Jenkins teaches in his interview about the concepts of the old and new coming together as well as ways new forms of media are shaping communication and our society. In the first video, he discusses how, before the phone and more personal media forms, most, if not all, media was either owned by the government or large companies that controlled media. Now, while that ownership is still in play, in addition to that, people also hold large control of the media and its content. The video I embedded in a simpler and cartoonish way demonstrates the ideas that Jenkins discusses. The media now is largely shaped by the consumers and their wants vs what the companies decide to put out. Because if no one wants it, no one will use or watch the media these companies publish. The video I chose also backs up what Jenkins says. On the slide about new media, the video writes across the screen, &#8220;NEW MEDIA- consumer choice, unlimited space, personal interests,&#8221; backing up Jenikis&#8217; claims about the consumer wanting something, whether it&#8217;s legal or illegal, thus putting consumers in a powerful position in this new media society. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All three of these videos share information about media and the difference between the old and new media.
