Three Little Pig exploration
At morning meeting we read The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by The Wolf by Jon Scieszka. After we talked about how this book was different then the traditonal book of the three pigs. I then asked the students Who was telling the true? The pigs or the wolf. The children picked which on they thought told the truth and wrote their names on the piece of paper. ( It is hanging outside the classroom)
At center time the children each worked on building their own pigs house with different materials. When they were done construting there building they brought it over to the Big Bad Wolf ( a blow dryer) to see if he could blow the house down. Many children built several houses to see if they stayed up.
Here are some things that were said at one table during building
Jackson: Building with play dough
Olivia- Will the wolf eat lots of sugar? Tummy ache
Will- I had one once
Olivia- Uh oh it fell down
Diego- Fell down
Jackson- Big Bad Wolf
Diego- I want some more
jackson- Olivia why does it keep falling down
Olivia- Becuase it broke
Diego- Roll me ball more balls I want playdough
Jackson- Jenna look at my strong house, your never going to blow mine down
Olivia- Cant blew mine down big bad wolf.
Then the wolf tried to blow down each friends house. The list of who’s house was strong and who’s house was blown down is on the white board outside the classroom.
Some things that were said during blowing the house down
Erin- I want to do it again
Owen- It dont blow down
Olivia- not by the hair on my chinny chin chin
Licolin- My turn
Kevin- It blow down

The Three Little Pig
I have started tell stories to the children at meals. They have asked to tell the three little pigs. I make up the story using the child’s name as characters. Then when I am done telling the stories the children tell their own three little pig story.
Today we got out the projector to watch and listen to the three little pigs story. Then after we watched the children made pig houses out of clay and playdough . Everyone decided to make their house out of brick and we talked about the piggies and the wolf. We also built pig homes in the building area after.
Ask your child to tell you a three little pigs story and please share the story with me in the comment section if possible.
We will continue to explore the three little pig more next week.
