Digital Accessibility Updates and Resources

The U.S. Department of Justice’s Title II digital accessibility deadline is April 24, 2026.  The following resources are available to help faculty and instructional staff prepare their courses for digital accessibility.  


CATLST Programming

Top 6 Digital Accessibility Criteria Checklist. Feeling overwhelmed? Not sure where to start? Use this checklist when designing or remediating digital materials.

Focus on accomplishing these six things first to achieve the biggest digital accessibility impact when developing or updating electronic documents, multimedia, video content, webpages, and other digital content. Links to simple instructions for accomplishing each of the six high-impact criteria are provided with the checklist. 

Accessibility in Action Workshops. Erika Schock, Shane Degen, and Ethan Kirkpatrick will host various Accessibility in Action Workshops starting in February. The training topics include: digital accessibility basics, lecture slides and videos, Canvas pages, designing accessible data, and more.

Digital Accessibility Open Office Hours. Erika Schock, CATLST Teaching, Learning, and Technology Consultant, will be providing special Winterim virtual drop-in office hours January 5 through January 30th, 2026.  Pop in to ask a question or receive a little extra guidance!

  • Mondays, 1:00-2:00 pm (virtual)
  • Wednesdays, 11:00 am -12:00 pm (in-person)

PDF Remediation Tools and Training

Equidox. UWW has purchased licenses for Equidox, a software that greatly simplifies making PDF documents accessible. A training session will be scheduled for Friday, February 13, from 12:00-1:00. Please watch your email for more information on how to sign up. 

In order to use Equidox, instructors need to request access:  

MathPix. UWW is pursuing licenses for Mathpix as a PDF remediation tool specifically designed for STEM disciplines. More information will be shared as that initiative progresses.
