These cookies are his favorite version of chocolate chip cookies, and I’m a big fan of them too. We found this recipe a couple years ago in a YouTube video and we liked them so much that we saved the recipe (with a bit of an edit) and have made the cookies quite a lot. These cookies are incredibly easy to make (they only use 4 ingredients) and are a fun variation of classic chocolate chip cookies. 🙂

Like I said, there are 4 ingredients you will need for these cookies: a box of yellow cake mix, 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips, 2 eggs, and 1/2 cup of vegetable oil. For the cake mix, I prefer to use Pillsbury’s Moist Supreme Yellow cake mix (see right) but you can use a different brand or flavor if you like (you could use confetti cake mix). For the semi-sweet chocolate chips, I almost exclusively use Nestle Toll House chocolate chips (see below), but again you can use whatever brand you prefer.

To make the cookies, start by putting the cake mix in a bowl, then pour the oil and the eggs in and stir until even. Lastly, add the chocolate chips and stir until they are evenly dispersed. I use 1 cup of chocolate chips in my cookies because we like a lot of chips per cookie, but you can use less if you’re not a big chocolate fan. The final step is to bake the cookies. Put them in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

There are two important things to note about this recipe: 1. When the batter is all mixed together, it will be quite oily and pliable – don’t worry! This makes it super easy to make the dough into balls and to clean your mixing bowl afterwards! 2. When baking, the cookies will rise a lot – the base of the cookie is cake mix so this is normal, they will flatten after they finish cooling. 🙂

These cookies are one of the quickest and easiest recipes that I make frequently and greatly enjoy. I think they taste really good and they are a nifty way to change up the classic chocolate chip cookie. I hope I have inspired some of you to try out this recipe for yourselves! Thanks for reading!

This week’s dessert was chosen by my boyfriend.
