When one thinks of a journalist, they usually think of someone who goes out into the field, extracting any necessary information that they need for the story, and other elements that would be helpful in making a story end up on print. While this certainly may be the case, it is not the full definition of what a journalist really is. Anyone in this day and age can be a journalist whether they realize it or not, thanks to the magic of social media. While this can be seen as a blessing (because it most definitely is when used correctly), it can also be a curse as well. For example, if someone posts a story that seems very real, but then it turns out to be falsified, that is the curse behind it. Plus, we are getting our news much faster than before, so it almost seems like it is becoming too much. With convergence of content from other platforms like Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, or even X, people need to be more mindful of the news that they are consuming, because the content being posted could easily be fake. That is why everyone who reads an article needs to do their research before coming to an educated conclusion on a story to have a solid opinion on a story.
